I'm not talking about welfare... I hate those people. I am just talking about minimum wage for people who are willing to work hard to do what it takes to be a responsible citizen. I make WAY more than minimum wage however it still upsets me. A person could never support a family on minimum wage today even if both parents worked full time... they would almost be better off on welfare and food stamps which makes me even more upset. I truly don't understand why this is... what is the benefit to politicians since increasing minimum wage would actually make people pay more taxes (because they make more). Wouldn't it be in their best interests also?

I have a debate tomorrow and I have to debate from Thomas Jefferson's point of view, and he believed that people SHOULD be trusted with the government. (will be debating against Alexander Hamilton's point of view)

Examples I have so far
1. Alien and Sedition-What happens when the president, and not the people, is in charge. Infringed on freedom of speech and press.

2. Napoleon Dynamite-Since the people were in charge of govt (voting), they made the right choice and voted for Pedro.

Anyone have other examples?

Okay, from Mike Wallace's 60 minutes, Woodward says Bush will never withdraw from Iraq even if Laura and Barney are the only supporters of the war.

Now, the president is so firm on his policy.

Is there any law in the U.S. constitution that when the president is going wrong way, the citizens or the congress vote to stop him?

In other words, can we or the congress persons vote to withdraw, despite the president's insistance?

Or the president has the supreme power over the policy and there isn't anything we can do until he completes his presidence?

What are the ways to get out of Iraq, while Bush is still on the chair?

I thought that our founding fathers wanted us to "promote the spread of democracy" around the world. Does anybody think that we are forcing other countries to adopt a system that they don't understand or want?
I am not saying that i don't support democracy, I think it's great, but I thought the FF's just wanted us to encourage other govts to adopt a democratic system. Is that what we are doing in Iraq?

ps- I support our troops- I was one of them in Desert Storm, and I know what they are going through each day. So please don't blast me for being un-American.
