As he has only been in power for a few months, there is no way he could be rated as either the best or the worst prime minister Canada has ever had. He would have to be in power for several years in order to rate him at all.
While I'm not a Conservative voter, I find there are a number of negative answers that are rather biased - people attacking him are not paying attention to the news. He supports the US position when he agrees with them - and obviously hasn't asked for my advice!!!! :) I think he will be willing to stand up to them on the Arctic. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls a Jean Chrétien trick on that issue - by standing up firmly to the US at a key time his ratings will go way up (remember the Turbot war with the Spanish fishermen - how that put Chrétiens's ratings way up?)
To rate him as a lousy PM one would also have to wait a few years. Let's not let our political views get in the way of an honest look at the man. He seems to be doing his job the best he can.

The reason that Stephen Harper the best Prime Minister Canada ever had is . . . . that's impossible to answer. There is no way that he will ever be considered a good Prime Minister, let alone the best Prime Minister. He might be the best Canadian Prime Minister the US ever had, but even that belongs to the Irish song singer toady Mulroney.
He's definitely the Canadian Prime Minister with the best phony smile. He's also the Canadian Prime Minister with the best imitation JFK hair. He also has a wide impulsive and bullying streak that masquerades as decisiveness. Those are really his only accomplishments.

He is a lousy prime minister, who craves being a U.S. lapdog, supportive of the policies favoring the rich and the multinationals.
Pierre Trudeau was the best Prime Minister in recent history.

I disagree with your statement.I find that he is serving American interests more than those of Canadians.soft lumber and afghanistan come to mind.
But I do like his decisiveness.Make a decision and execute it instead of endless debating.
I would choose Trudeau ,Dief or Pearson first I think
