It all depends on how early a person has started a job, and when they are eligable for retirement. Im 18 and working for the Government, and if I continue to work for the Government, the earliest I can retire is 55. But the latest I think you can retire is 65? So it all depends on what you do with your career/job, whether you put it on hold and what not, and when you start.

At the moment it is 65 years for men. Womens' retirement age is gradually being increased to 65 also. Double check at your local Jobcentre.

It should be 65 for people in private commercial activities.
In govt it should not be till 50 years afterwords their salary
must be cut by 50% and they should retire by 70 if they are honest
and with efficiant work culture.

If you mean for social security, it has been extended for full benefits for some.
http://www.ssa.gov/retirechartred.htm.
Check the chart to determin the eligible age for your dad. He can still take benefits at 62 but at a reduced rate.

yes 65 for women and 70 for men but think you should work as long as you feel you can. Not working just slows you up

Ask this question in about ten years time and it will probably be 75 for women and 80 for men.
And if you have saved up for a private pension you will not be entitled to a state one even though you have paid in for it all your life. Believe me it will happen.
