If it is a minority group that has some wealth or political power, then the government will "help" them. Basically, the government only helps those who can help the government. Consider the following:
- The US government has decided to "help" the people in Iraq depose a despotic dictator. But they do nothing to help the people of Sierra Leone, Sudan, Darfur, and many other countries. The difference, Iraq has oil and a permanent US military presence in Iraq will definitely help US foreign policy;
-The hoerndously slow response of the government to the Katrina disaster;
- The lack of any meaningful envorinmental policy while big oil continues to make record profits and get tax breaks and government money on top of that.
These are but three examples of how the government is only interested in helping those who can help keep them in power.
Sad, but true.

Yes, but as there is diversity, there will be inequalities. Don't take it personally. All people have their own personal biases based on environment and enlightenment.

government involvement really never helps people. welfare makes minorities weak. private charity works better, is more efficient, and is cheaper to do the same thing
