Elections - May 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

I'm voting for him but this really baffles me. Are they all just playing parts like actors in a movie? Is the secret society at work here? I consider Ron our last chance to get the country back on track. If he doesn't get the nomination, I will seriously consider never voting again. Is it a conspiracy to get people who think like me out of the voting system? I appreciate your INTELLIGENT thoughts and critical thinking skills here, no BS please.

Sounds like democracy to me- people's choice. But is this true? Can a president elected by such a majority truly represent an entire nations interest?

With this immigration bill I am thinking McCain's nominaton fight is effectively over. He can not possibly get the nomination now.
...so of the top tier folks that leaves only Romney.
(not saying second tier...such as Paul couldn't surprise us).

Agree or disagree?

Or are the parties so polarized that there will never be common ground again? It seems that there is so much hatred. When did politics become personal?

Madam Speaker, you recently asked: Congress is working on legislation to address global warming - what would you like to see included? After reading the responses to your question it appears that most of the people were saying, do nothing. So my question is, will you view this at face and do nothing or will you go forward with gorefic facts (psuedoscience at best) and intrude further into american lives?

There's debate about Baraka Obama's claimed College Conversion to Christianity. There are those who say it;s a real and genuine conversion, while others say he did it for political or business reasons. Specifically, it's claime that he's not really a Christian at all, but a Muslim who started pretending to be Christian to improve his business prospects in Middle America.

What do you think?

Is Barak Obama a Christian, or a Muslim cynically pretending to be Christian in order to fool us all?

The constitution states that each person is equal and and has the right to vote and each vote is equall in value. If this is true than why are lobyist groups legal. If the citizens have a problem they contact their representative be it a letter, phone call or petition. One person one vote. If a corportate has a problem they send a lobyist with pockets full of money and buy a vote. When are you going to give the people their government back. I want a government for the people. Not what we currently have which is a government for the corporations. Lobyist should be illegal. If a corporation wants something change they should only be given the same options as the people have which contact their representative via phone email, letter or petition. Please advise.

I'm living in France and I just want to ask you, dear Americans, what do you think about our new president Sarkozy.
Did you know he's doing jogging every day, like Bush! Does that means he will be a good president, like Bush....?

Motor voter and voter purge software composed by Database of Boca Raton and acquired by Choicepoint of Expedia. Choicepoint was contracted to purge the voter roles in Florida in 2000. After database purged the rolls in 1998 and 1999.Choice took over. they purged almost 700,000 voters in 2000, which was 3 times as much as 1999. Almost 200,000 of the purged voters were later found not to have been felons and should not have been purged and all of those purged were found to be Democrats in Florida. That's how Bushies robbed the White House from America!!

Seriously, as long as all parties involved are consenting adult humans and they don't exhaust themselves, I genuinely don't care what a politician does in bed, or with whom. Or what they did in bed. Or whatever. I have problems with Rudy Giuliani, but the ones with his marriages, well, those are his family's issues, not mine.

I don't approve of affairs, but I pretty much expect people with that much power and that much time on the road to go that route once or twice anyway. All I really care about is what they do at work, because that affects me. I'm voting for President or Representative, not Parent or Spouse of the Year, you know?

Does anyone else feel like that? Because I feel kind of alone in this.

When are you going to do something about these gas companies. Are you going to wait till they completely kill whats left of the economy. They set back and brag about all there profits and pay their Ceo's millions and most of us cant even afford to drive to work. The effect being stores losing shoppers, resturants losing customers because all we can afford is gas. Do we have a shortage or is this just GREED> I say GREED. This is one thing we need to think about!!

When did we get to the point in this country where we had to vote for someone we didn't like to prevent someone we really despise from getting elected?

In 2000, the choice was between dumb and dumber. Dumb got elected.

Same deal in 2004. Dumb got elected again.

But we have a chance to nominate "smart" in 2008. Ron Paul is someone we can all vote FOR - not just because his opponent is a jackass, but because Ron Paul is a GREAT candidate.

The only question is this: Do YOU have any courage? Will YOU stand up for what's right? Or will YOU settle for whatever isn't quite the worst?

Take a chance and vote for REAL change.

If we simply do that - how can it possibly be "wasting" a vote?

I thought that once the new congress was seated, having taken the majority by virtue of voters' unhappiness with the current administration, that there would be more toe-to-toe with the present administration. Instead, it appears that the Congress remains intimated -- fearful to take hard stands because they're afraid Rove and friends will pillorize them for doing so in the next election. Quite dismaying.

I live abroad, and I actually hadn't heard of Ron Paul until this week because the international magazines (time, newsweek) and papers hadn't really mentioned him. He's against the IRS, the federal income tax (which is unconstitutional, anyhow), against the Patriot Act and the Iraq "war."

The only thing I don't know is his stances on abortion and gay rights (if you know, please tell me - his website avoids the subject).

What do you think of him?

Im beginning to think so. After Dean getting destroyed for making a funny noise. Now republicans want to narrow the field for future debates. I think they already know its Hillary vs. Gulianni. Any other candidate will be dismissed. They wont get the TV time.

I like Ron Paul. He might be a little strange on some issues, but thats what congress is for. To make sure that crazy issues dont get through. I like the idea of a president that would veto liberal issues and control spending. If your a conservative how can you support any other candidate? Its time to take a stand no more Bushes or Guliannis. I would rather see hillary in there than another garbage republican.

The real traditional term is "Glass Ceiling." Changing from glass to marble is juuuusssttt a TAD bit arrogant don't you think? Elected persons in the house AND the senate (as well as the president for that matter) seem to have such superiority complexes these days. You really need to rub shoulders with your real constituents and not be such an elitist.

No long-winded answers...just a name will do
