When are you going to do something about these gas companies. Are you going to wait till they completely kill whats left of the economy. They set back and brag about all there profits and pay their Ceo's millions and most of us cant even afford to drive to work. The effect being stores losing shoppers, resturants losing customers because all we can afford is gas. Do we have a shortage or is this just GREED> I say GREED. This is one thing we need to think about!!

They are holding hearings and want to take away the subsidies these SOBs get. We are paying the oil companies twice.
1)With our taxpayers money giving their sorry asses subsidies
2)Those astronomical prices at the pump. Hearings began last week but not heavily publicized. They have been overshadowed by the "immigration bill" mess.
The FTC which is full of Republican political appointees, claims there is no price gouging yet these as*holes will be reporting record profits yet again.
I did math and I knew if what the oil companies claim was true, that they are buying oil at higher prices, then their bottom line would not be growing, it would remain the same or shrink, but no, they report humogous profits. I say enough.

You have two issues here.

For the sake of argument, let's force oil companies to sell gas at 2.00 a gallon. Seems reasonable, right? We tried price controls in the early 70's. It was a disaster. If Americans are not willing to reduce their demand, you can petition Congress to do "something" all day long, the price will remain based on the market. You want real solutions? Stop the gas tax, remove the "grade" restrictions, explore and drill in our own country.

Getting upset at CEO's salaries accomplishes nothing. This is the same thing argued with athletes, Barbara Streisand, et al. The market pays what you're worth. Is Madonna greedy? Should we limit what she should make. Should we tell people you can live on this and we'll take the rest.

Looking to Congress to solve anything is a mistake. They have created more chaos by trying to fix things. Better they stay in recess.

amazing! study the free market once.. Jealousy not greed.
These companies are in the right business at the right time.
Maybe look at their profit margins rather than their profits. The margins are what matters. (Profit margin is the percent of sales left over after the cost of the product and the overhead is taken out of the sales dollars.) Many businesses make a lot higher profit margin than oil companies. The size of the company makes a big impact on the wow factor of the profit dollar figure. Nancy Pelosi has not right getting involved.

The oil compnies make about 9 cents on a dollar of gasoline, whereas the US government with it's gas tax makes about 45 cents..... Your question should be the other way around, when are you going to do something abouyt the likes of Pelosi and the Government and their pure Greed of taxation? And they want to raise your taxes more! Get a clue!

The better question to Nancy Pelosi is when is she going to stop funneling government money and contacts to a company owned by her husband? The is totally illegal and punishable by extended jail time.

As for the gas prices, ask her when she will allow the oil companies to drill in the US or open another refinery? Those are much better questions to ask.

Oh and by the way, the Federal and state governments make more off a gallon of gas than the oil companies.

Nancy Pelosi will reply to your question, if she reads it. My sympathies for gas prices causing trouble. Let us not forget the strength of cartel.

What needs to be done is a break up of all of these big oil companies. no more Exxon mobile, BP amaco. Break them up and force them to have competition, then the prices would drop. Get rid of the price fixing

Nancy does not want to lower oil prices IMO. What she DOES want to do is take all that money the oil companies are making and give it to the illegal immigrants and the poor. She doesn't want the oil companies to get rich. In fact I don't think she wants anyone but her to get rich.
