(From Dr. Paul's website) These are all reasons why a vote for Ron Paul is not a "waste".
Ron has never voted to raise taxes.
Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
Ron has never voted for the Iraq War.
Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay.
Ron has never taken a government-paid junket.
Ron voted against the Patriot Act.
Ron votes against regulating the Internet.
Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA.
Ron votes against the United Nations.
Ron votes against the welfare state.
Ron votes against reinstating a military draft.
Ron votes to preserve the constitution.
Ron votes to cut government spending.
Ron votes to lower healthcare costs.
Ron votes to end the war on drugs.
Ron votes to protect civil liberties.
Ron votes to secure our borders with real immigration reform.
Ron votes to eliminate tax funded abortions and to overturn Roe v Wade.
Ron votes to protect religious freedom.
Ron Paul is the best chance real liberty has had in the United States in a long, long time. I can't wait to vote for him in the primaries. Perhaps he is a long shot, but he has already gotten people talking. A politician--nay, citizen statesman, that says he believes things, that he will do things, and actually votes according to his beliefs and promises? A Congressman that actually defends the Constitution as per his oath of office? I am truly excited about politics for the first time in my life!

We are still at a point where a vote for someone who cannot win enough votes to win, will actually help someone win who should not. Nader and Perot are prime examples of this.
Paul cannot win 34% of the vote and that is what it would take if the other two split the remaining votes. Paul is not going to take votes from the socialist base of the democratic party and would take vote from the conservative candidate, thus making the new president a socialist.
If your point is you want a conservative like Paul, you are going to have to accept someone else or get a socialist. Hopefully you are honest enough to know that anyone is better than a socialist for AMerica.
A better hope would be for the moderate democrats to get feed up with the socialist controlling their party and they either vote repub or start their own party, then you might be able to put a Paul up against a socialist(dem), new Dem and a repub, and have a good chance of him winning, until then forget about it.
Now to the most important part of my answer, the President is NOT WHERE THE POWER IN AMERICA is. Congress writes the laws, collects the revenue and spends your money, this is where the power in AMerica is today, and this is where we need to put our efforts together to make a positive change in our country and liberty.
Get rid of incumbents in congress, both parties, but start with the socialists, we need to take back AMerica from the commies before it is too late.

Ron Paul has a real chance of winning this election, despite what people want to say. They are just hating on the fact that their candidates attention is being stolen by Ron Paul. He is getting a lot of media coverage. He is appearing on more networks and people are finally starting to recognize what a great candidate he is. He will be on Coast to Coast AM radio one of these nights soon, they have 20 million listeners nationally. That is a huge broadcast to people who believe that the government is headed in the wrong direction and that things need to be changed. He also gets a lot of coverage from Alex JOnes radio show and his website. www.infowars.com
THanks for your question!!
GO RON PAUL
PS. if you are answering this question with something along the lines of "Ron Paul isn't going to win". If you really believed that why would you waste your time answering the question? Wouldn't you just disregard? I think there is somethign to be said about the negative reactions people are taking their time to post ....they are worried . Ron Paul is going to shake things up this election.

Ron Paul seems like a great candidate.
But the problem is that he's not a big time name.
He wouldn't get the vote of the Religious Right.
He doesn't wield the same kind of money that maybe a Guilliani or McCain would probably ring in.
If I was to vote for Republican, I would vote for him.
The 'waste' comes because he's only got an outside shot to win.
Besides people would tell you not to vote for him because they would want to use your vote for a candidate that's more likely to win...such as Rudy, Romney, Clinton, McCain or Obama. One of the Big 5.

Great question! We do have a REAL choice now. Americans can now vote for someone who really does speak the truth and stands for the people instead of the 'traditional' politics as-usual lip service. Ron Paul is a true patriot and founding father material. He is the REAL HOPE for America.
American people don't have to kiss politician's a*s anymore just because they're the lesser of the two evils. American people don't have to put up with their broken promises and flip flopping and moral corruption anymore.
For all the goodness, integrity, intelligence and love for Liberty and justice in American people, Ron Paul is the BEST choice a true American have. How could that be a 'waste' of your vote? That is the Best way to vote - it is to vote for someone who truly stands for your moral ideals. It is to vote for who you truly LOVE.

If you vote for the candidate that you feel is best, even if he doesn't win, it sends a message to the person who DID win that in the eyes of many voters, this person's message was important.
If you like Ron Paul, then vote for him. even if he loses, it will tell the winner that there are a LOT of people out here who think Paul's ideas of slimming down the government should be seriously considered.
That's not wasting a vote: that's telling the people what you really WANT.

Ron Paul is a *real* Republican. Something that the 20-something crowds have probably never even seen.
The religious right will indeed vote for him, because he is a Christian man. (That's one of the things I probably don't like about him - I don't like religion in my politics.)
Wasting my vote? Pish.
I'd rather vote for a winner who loses than to vote for some loser who wins.
He is right. If China was building a base in the GUlf Of Mexico, we'd be having a stroke. It happened once - Cuban Missle Crisis.

Ron Paul is the only candidate worth voting for. The rest of them are scum.
Not sure votes even count with "ruling elite" pulling all the strings behind the scenes. But if people have any integrity at all, they should vote their conscience.

Smart is not a word I would use to describe Ron Paul.
If you do vote for him you will be throwing away your vote, but that is your choice. He doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of winning. Thank God.

The wasting your vote ploy is put out there by mainstream media to tell people what to think. It's not true. It's time we get back to making our own decisions based on the candidates and the facts.
