I live abroad, and I actually hadn't heard of Ron Paul until this week because the international magazines (time, newsweek) and papers hadn't really mentioned him. He's against the IRS, the federal income tax (which is unconstitutional, anyhow), against the Patriot Act and the Iraq "war."

The only thing I don't know is his stances on abortion and gay rights (if you know, please tell me - his website avoids the subject).

What do you think of him?

I know who he is. He is the truth teller in the room not unlike his Democratic counterpart Dennis Kucinich.
He is the conscience who will be ignored by the masses once they get further and further into the process unless he reaches the "earnings" milestons which would ensure his continued participation in the debates.

He's personally pro life. He believes the decision on abortion should be left up to the individual states, not the federal government. In which he is absolutely correct. Personally i believe him to be a very wise choice for voters in 2008.

I like his ideas, but he's pretty much unelectable. He will never win over the moderates or independents.

I only hope that he influences the GOP candidates' debates and platforms so they have some semblence of being conservative.
