Seriously, as long as all parties involved are consenting adult humans and they don't exhaust themselves, I genuinely don't care what a politician does in bed, or with whom. Or what they did in bed. Or whatever. I have problems with Rudy Giuliani, but the ones with his marriages, well, those are his family's issues, not mine.

I don't approve of affairs, but I pretty much expect people with that much power and that much time on the road to go that route once or twice anyway. All I really care about is what they do at work, because that affects me. I'm voting for President or Representative, not Parent or Spouse of the Year, you know?

Does anyone else feel like that? Because I feel kind of alone in this.

I don't care about a any's sexual preference or lives.

But if your going around waving your finger and talking about morals and running campaigns on Family Values...then you get caught in an affair ...thats when I have a problem with that candidate. And IMO, he/she should drop out and go home.

And I also didn't like how Rudy's divorce went. Very nasty and especially how he left his wife.

Believe me when I say that I understand what you're saying.

However, when it comes to the role of president.

The President is supposed to be a figure head for the nation and while many of us may or may not care what the President does in the comforts of his/her own home.... as the figure head of our nation is looks bad.

If it were up to me, and it's not, I'd say that the information about the President and his/her family issues should be kept quiet but when made public, it becomes the issue of everyone because the President represents the entire American people internationally.

Hope that makes some sense.

I think how a person conducts him/herself in private reflects on his/her abilities as a national leader.

There is a general consensus/standard that married people remain faithful to their spouse. If a person cheats on his/her spouse what's not to prevent that same person from being dishonest while running the nations business?

A person with multiple marriages may very well be a person with some personality instability. Do we want an unstable person running the country? No Bush bashing please.

A person can be married and divorced and re-married once, but beyond that, there could be some instability. And if the marriage and divorce was due to ADULTERY, then that person should NOT run for public office. He/she is too instable and dishonest and irresponsible.

I do not think one can honestly compartmentalize their lives into public and private. The two do intersect.

When they keep it on that level themselves, it's their own business and I couldn't care less. However, the hypocrisy of those that run around passing moral judgment on others- even as they fool around themselves- should certainly bring their moral and professional ethics into question. Like Newt Gingrich and half the Republicans that were on the panel trying to publicly embarass Clinton- at great expense to the taxpayers.

When they have an affair it goes to show they have no problem lying and cheating. I dont care about the details but it shows a lack of morals and not being honest and that matters when they are an elected official.

You're not alone. What other people do, if it's legal, doesn't dictate how they will run the country. I don't care if some one is straight, gay, or whatever. If they just do the job they're elected to do, their sex lives shouldn't be an issue.

I only have a problem with it when they call themselves the "Moral" party and tout "family values". I hate hypocrisy and wouldn't feel right voting for a major hypocrite, esp. since these are the same people who spend their time and our tax money judging other people.
But other than that I don't care...I mean I lived in France for 10 year, and the pres. used to walk about with his girlfriend for crying out loud. No one said anything.

It makes you wonder how come in liberal countries politicians´ sex lives are totally irrelevant. It´s frankly the Anglo-Saxon cultures that makes blackmailing and public scandalizing practices less offensive than affairs that take place behind closed doors.

You are not alone. I did not need to know all the details about Monica & Bill. Just think of what our government COULD have been focusing on instead. Like finding Bin-laden, might have prevented 911.

I don't care either. Especially when most politicians are really unattractive. I mean, who wants to imagine John Major and Edwina Currie doing it? He has a square head and she has a face you could carve a roast on.
