Could non-violence resistance even work? Why or why not? If you think it would work, how?

It would be nice to have a conference of the world's civil, social, and religious leaders on the topic. But, since I do not have the means for such a conference, I will ask the people here.

By the way:
I'm sorry to all who answered before when I posted this question. The question was removed by accident and could not be retrieved. Some people had very good answers and I had planned on awarding the 10 points. Of note, many people felt that the usual techniques of non-violent protest (as practiced by Gandhi) would not be effective against terrorist, since their moral beliefs encourage them to kill you. One person, gave specific examples of failure, such as the Christians in Sudan, and the Jews in Nazi Germany.
On the other hand, someone stated that building more public schools would combat terrorism. They would provide education and an alternative to the terrorist's brain washing "schools".

The CEO of General Moters tells the prisident that $1500 of every new car sold goes to pay for heath care benefit for its employees. I would assume that this is also true of many industrys. We pay that. It also makes it hard for U.S. company's to compete in a global market, this means American jobs going off shore. There are many other hidden cost because of this issue. Can you name some?

revolution |ˌrevəˈloō sh ən| - a forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system.

For the sake of argument, lets say you woke up today to find that the constitution has been suspended indefinitely. Those that have do so explain to the people that America must take 2 steps back in order to take 10 steps forward as the rationale for their actions. The philosophy being that 'you can't fix a car while its running'.

Put yourself on both ends of the spectrum. If you as the President, absolutely had to suspend freedoms in order to save us from ourselves, why would you do it and what are your motives? Even if you mean no harm, and intentions are genuinely honorable.

As the citizen who has awoken to this news on CNN, what would you do? Would this pull Americans from their couches into the streets? Are 21st century American capable of true revolution (not faxes, or disgruntled emails) or would we cooperate if let to understand its truly for the better good.

It has started to get lots of national press as of late: CBS Early show, NBC, New York Times, Miami Herrald. For those that dont know, (read one of the articles: Time.com.
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1580473,00.html)this group has confiscated govt land by using a county law against it self.
In a nutshell: a housing project was condemed & torn down with the promise of a rebuild 11 yrs ago & put $ up for the project. To date, no one knows where the $ is & the building is still an empty lot. A group used a law that forbids arrest of homeless on govt land doing life sustaning activities (eating, washing etc.) & took & occupied the vacant 1 acre lot & built a shantytown for the homeless w/ no help or support from govt. In fact govt tried to shut it down until all the press & now want to 'help'.

It was due to the gentrification of poor in the booming Miami real estate mkt.

I say, way to go! Since govt WONT help, do it ourselves.

**Do I have to pay tribal taxes if I worked on a reservation?

I worked at a tribal school, on a native american reservation, but I am not native. I had both federal income tax and tribal tax taken out of my paychecks. At some point, I heard that I could get the tribal tax back, since I'm not native, and get the federal tax back because I was working on a reservation. Sounds too good to be true, but if it is I'd like to know how. Do you know how this kind of thing works? Or know where I can find out more?

The Greatest Generation must get sick when they see what's happened to their country. They survive two world wars and a depression, and the greatest country in the world that they left to their children is in pathetic shape.

When did we lose the belief that there was nothing that we couldn't accomplish? When did we stop fighting for excellence in all areas?

I don't want to hear about BUSH or CLINTON. This goes beyond any one random political figure. This is a shift that has taken place over the last generation.

What's happened to America, and how can we be the greatest country in the world again?

What is the purpose of having elections to send carpetbagging, lying, coniving, "on-the-take", criminals to places like State Capitols and Washington D.C. to become even more corrupt in the guise of being 'representative' of their constituents? I am thoroughly disgusted with the whole lot of them and would like to know, what can I do about it?
