No. Low voter turnout is a bad thing, especially in a country that claims to be a democracy and cherishes democratic values. Out of all the countries that hold democratic elections the U.S. has the lowest voter turnout of registered voters (41 %). That means that 59% of registered voters don't vote- this figure doesn't include people that aren't registered to vote.

This is bad, because people do a lot of complaining about how much Bush sucks, but look at how low voter turnout is. My philosophy is if you don't vote don't complain.

It depends on who votes. Will only the informed vote? Or will the voters be the people that get picked up at nursing homes, low income areas (they do not have cars - not a race issue), or are just plain bored & vote to see other people.
If only the informed voted, low turn out would be okay but if the informed get disgusted & stay home - low turnout could be a
diaster. Many of my friends (lawyers, doctors, teachers & etc. )stayed home in Nov. rather than vote for the choices they saw.
Not voting is NEVER the answer.

No. Low voter turnout should not ever happen. It means people are willing to gripe about everything that goes on but are not willing to go to the polls to help change it. That is where the power of the people is, not on the evening news whining and holding up signs.
