In India we have little of Social Democracy, Green Politics & Environmentalism as political idealogies although a mix of these three has brought rapid change in Europe and USA and helped in the creation of Welfare State which we all aspire.
Social democracy is a political ideology that emerged out of classical socialism in the late 19th century, many social democratic parties have embraced 'Third Way' ideology.
The Socialist International (SI) – the worldwide organisation of social democratic and democratic socialist parties – defines social democracy as an ideal form of liberal democracy that can solve the problems found in unregulated capitalism. The SI emphasizes the following principles: First, freedom – not only individual liberties, but also freedom from discrimination and freedom from dependence on either the owners of the means of production or the holders of abusive political power. Second, equality and social justice – not only before the law but also economic and socio-cultural equality as well, and equal opportunities for all including those with physical, mental, or social disabilities. Finally, solidarity – unity and a sense of compassion for the victims of injustice and inequality. See The SI's Declaration of Principles.
Social democratic parties originally included both democratic socialists and revolutionary socialists such as Rosa Luxemburg and Vladimir Lenin. After World War I and the Russian Revolution, social democracy became exclusively associated with the non-revolutionary path.
The term "social democracy" can also refer to the particular kind of society that social democrats advocate.
In general, contemporary social democrats support:
Regulatory systems over private enterprise in the interests of workers, consumers and small enterprise.
A social market economy over a free market, if not, in some cases and to some extent, planned economy.
Advocacy of fair trade over free trade.
An extensive system of social security (though usually not to the extent advocated by democratic socialists or other socialist groups), notably to counteract the effects of poverty and to insure the citizens against loss of income following illness or unemployment. (see welfare state)
Government-owned or subsidised programs of education, healthcare, child care, etc. for all citizens.
Moderate to high levels of taxation to fund government expenditure and a progressive taxation system.
A system of industrial regulation (statutory or union-established minimum wages, working conditions, protection against arbitrary dismissal).
Environmental protection laws (although not to the extent advocated by Greens).
Immigration and multiculturalism.
A secular and progressive social policy, although this varies markedly in degree. Most social democrats support gay marriage, abortion and a liberal drug policy, while others are either non-committed or openly opposed strongly to these policies, although feigned opposition may be employed for political expediency.
A foreign policy supporting the promotion of democracy, the protection of human rights and, where possible, effective multilateralism.
Dissimilar to many liberals, social democrats advocate social rights, rather than just human rights.
We talk about environment protection all the time but do little to absorb it in our daily life like Green politics of the West or Rainwater Harvesting for protection against ground water shortage and Arsenic Pollution -
Green politics or Green ideology is the ideology of the Green Parties, mainly informed by environmentalism, ecology and sustainable economics and aimed at developing a sustainable society. It is considered by its advocates to be an alternative to socialism, conservatism, and liberalism, although adherents of the traditional ideologies tend to view Greens as representing "one of the others." Certainly it is true that Green parties advocate measures that appear to conventional politicians different from those grouped into labour and capital by economic interests. Even so, Green Parties are, in general, modern left-wing parties, and most Greens see themselves as being more leftist than the social democratic parties.
Some of these views include:
a commitment to the methods of consensus decision making, participatory democracy and deliberative democracy wherever feasible
local and moral purchasing provisions for government especially, requiring the source of supply to follow similar environmental and labour standards as those prevailing in the consuming jurisdiction
measuring well-being as an alternative to consumer price index based means of measuring economic growth
full cost accounting and an end to dirty subsidy of pollution by government
a green tax shift that would increase consumption and sales taxes on all resource-intensive items, while reducing income tax and capital gains tax
a cessation of all taxes levied against strictly local production and trade
against nuclear power and the build up of persistent organic pollutants - based on a strict adherence to the precautionary principle where technologies are rejected unless they can be proven to not cause significant harm to the health of living things or the biosphere. In Germany and Sweden programs have been initiated to shut down all nuclear plants (known as nuclear power phase-out).
an end to biological forms of pollution and human health damage via the subsidy of dairy farming and the meat industry
treating waste as a resource - a commodification of something of negative value, previously dumped into the commons without full cost accounting
investing heavily in human capital
accounting reform that would probably disadvantage both labour and large investors in favor of smaller investors
are ambivalent about the War on Drugs in the United States and Europe. The USA GP's platform advocates something other than drug peace: a "firm approach" to waging war against the "trafficking in hard drugs".
an end to the War on Terrorism and the curtailment of civil rights - focusing instead on growing deliberative democracy in war-torn regions and the construction of a civil society with an increased role for women
urban secession by major cities to permit them to shake off control of the suburbs and renew their economies in ways that they cannot do if they require the permission of their surrounding regions, e.g. to tax, ban cars in downtowns, or put money in mass transit instead of highways
bioregional democracy reflecting ecological boundaries in politics directly.
Fresh water is a limited and precious resource that is often taken for granted. While many areas of the developing world lack supplies of safe
drinking water. Water shall be a major issue for the 21st century and water resources a real source of international and interstate conflict.
In most part of the continent, extraction of water from rivers and
underground aquifers is causing severe environmental problems. In addition rainwater run-off during rainfall from roofs and other sealed surfaces during heavy rain can lead to accumulated flooding in high-risk areas. The protection of freshwater resources must therefore be improved world-wide to ensure that drinking water does not become a luxury product.
Arsenic contamination of groundwater has occurred in various parts of the world, most notably the Ganges Delta of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, causing serious arsenic poisoning among large numbers of people. It is a natural occurring high concentration of arsenic in deeper levels of groundwater, which became a high-profile problem in recent years due to the use of deep tubewells for water supply in the Ganges Delta .
Parts of Thailand,[citation needed] Taiwan, Argentina, Chile and China have also been affected.[1] Approximately 20 incidents of groundwater arsenic contamination have been reported from all over the world. Of these, four major incidents were in Asia.[2]
Roger Smith, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology Emeritus, Dartmouth Medical School, has confirmed that natural arsenic contamination of drinking water has also been a problem in wells in New Hampshire.

Normally ,a person who faces lots of problems ,will atlast he will suceed.Take any people for that matter right from Edison to Madam curie and from Lincoln to Nelson Mandela. But the thing is one should think about the and should realiseit, should come out with sucessful result. But in India, there are Children, there are Parents who remembers the days holiday on Jan"26 and Aug"15 th are the days we can get a Hoilday and nice watching TV programs with filthy things. Not even single incident about the Indian freedom Struggle for independence is shown. Besides that mostly we got the Indenpendence with out shetting too much of blood, merely by Satyagraha.By shetting blood if we would have got the Independence the Patriotism would have been in the peoples mind atleast for two generation and this nation would have alteast in the Hope of becoming a developing nation,\> ofcourse there were people like Thippurkumaran, veerapandi kattabomman,Bharathee,Bhagath Singh who shedd blood to this nation , but we have identified them as Activist.Of course we at that time of Freedom struggle we dont have real army or any wepon to fight against the Foreigners, and we no other alternative except to choose Ahimsa as our wepon. So the patriotism in the peoples mind is less and also the present rulers right from the State rulers to Central rulers they are giving much importance to foreinors invasion into the country rather than on indeginous infrastructural facilities.Unless and until you teach Patriotism to the new borns in the mother womb itself "India A developing Nation" it self will become a big question mark.

It depends on the conditions and the people thinking and attitude. The attitude can be considered as an important one because India is having the potential to develop like anything but here the attitude of the people can't be changed. We proudly used to say that India is having the largest young manpower but we forget to think of the future that after 25-50 this will also be last.
Here in this nation, I've personally seen the CEO of big company used to show some kind of bad attitude towards the poor people or poor people regions, they forget that it is their responsibility to make India a developed one not by hating them but with love.
In India a Punjabi who is very much habitual of speaking slang words is very respectable but on the other hand a U.P. man who is very simple and doesn't have those negative characteristics but the poverty is with him is un-respectable in the society.

India has too many people. Some segments of the population are quite developed, but as long as there are so many people starving on the streets, it will never be considered a rich nation. But it is developing quite rapidly.
I wouldn't call Korea developed. Japan has historically been a leader in science and electronics.

Korea is still developing country. But it has faster developments due to its small size, good networking (Mobiles, computers users ..), discipline in work (Military training compulsory for youth), hard working people, benefit from top Industries (Sam sung, POSCO, LG, Hyundai.... etc), Good infrastructure developed and maintained up to date, Larger fundings for focused applications research, & finally the WILL of KoreanS to GoAhead to JapaN. India is doing most and is in good position - but surely need some crucial things - STILL!!

India inspite of vast resources is lagging behind Japan and Korea as Indians are good as individuals but not as a team.In India what is lacking is team spirit and attitude. But it is for sure that things have started changing.

Well, the answer is simple, India is an ARTIFICIAL disaster.
A disaster done to by immoral politicians, bad bureaucrats, corrupt police, and inefficient and old law systems.
we learn how to deal with natural disasters from books but not artificial ones, that is why we cant understand why we are still developing..

It depends on how you define developed. In many regards, India is very developed.
And Korea and Japan are not without their own issues of poverty and social stratification.
