Ask any political scientist what an empire is and they will say its a government that controls its geographical borders, or other territories in has under its control, through military means.

The United States Of America has never done this and is not doing this now.

Yet people still call America an empire, or they say it has imperialist objectives in the mid-east.

So, are we changing the definition of 'empire'?

Perhaps we are including political and economic means among the ways that an empire is built and held on to.

I have had people call me names. I have had them write me e-mails calling me a traitor to my gender just because I refuse to support Hillary Clinton. It has nothing to do with her being a woman , I don't like anything that she waffles about. I can't say she stands for anything she changes her mind to much. She gives females a bad name and I don't want her representing my gender.

I am Mexican, and yes, I do think that illegal immigration should definitely stop, but I also think that MOST illegal immigrants, are hard-working people, and SOME do pay taxes, and MOST don't get paid under the table, so they do pay for S.S. that they're gonna end up NOT getting. Apart from telling them to go home, how many of you agree that illegal immigrants that have been here for a while, and have proof that have been paying taxes, and not getting paid under the table, and learn English, and pay a fine, among other things, should have the opportunity, to become citizens. I actually think that would help our weakening economy, as they would start paying taxes, would be able to buy things such as homes and pay applicable taxes. PLEASE, you can say you agree or disagree and share your viewpoint, I just want to see people's position on this issue, and also NO STUPID REMARKS.

My fiancee(28) has been in boot camp for the USMC in Parris Island since the 22nd of October as a reservist(NOT active duty). Last week I received letters from him explaining to me that he had been dropped from training because he is in Medical Rehabilitation for fracturing both of his heels. He also explained to me that he is severely depressed and the marines have let him down as far as his expectations of them(He is 4th generation military). He said that he wants to come home and life a normal life. I know that the marines can't just let him come home because that would be a lawsuit against them since he is in their care, so he has to stay long enough to heal THEN return home or return to training... If he doesn't want to continue through boot camp to become a marine, should he try for a medical discharge or failure to adapt(administrative separation). Which one of these and how long would it be before he comes home? They can't keep him there if he hasn't completed boot camp.

I keep seeing posts that bash Clinton. What's wrong with her? I'm only 15, so I'm not all that into the elections and junk, but what did she do to make everyone hate her?

Why do people feel the need to do this? It's one thing if you disagree with a candidate on the issues.. but why go to the extent of posting blatant lies about that individual? I've seen several questions discrediting a particular candidate.. all the claims that have been made against him/her are completely inaccurate..

When you vote for a candidate for President of the United States of America, does how much money the candidate has as an individual have an influence on if you vote for them? Why or why not?

To illustrate this point, lets say there are two candidates running for President for your party. Candidate A is a multi-millionare while Candidate B is a Middle Class citizen. Would you most likely choose Candidate A over Candidate B or choose Candidate B over Candidatte A?

(1) What is the residence requirement?
To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) out of the four years (1,460 days) preceding your application.

(2) Please note that you cannot meet the residence requirements for citizenship without a minimum of two (2) years as a permanent resident.

I understood (1) saying.
but I did not understand (2) ,
first, it mentioned that you have to live for 3 years out of 4 years, why here repeated this 2 years?
please give me an example, thank you.
