I am Mexican, and yes, I do think that illegal immigration should definitely stop, but I also think that MOST illegal immigrants, are hard-working people, and SOME do pay taxes, and MOST don't get paid under the table, so they do pay for S.S. that they're gonna end up NOT getting. Apart from telling them to go home, how many of you agree that illegal immigrants that have been here for a while, and have proof that have been paying taxes, and not getting paid under the table, and learn English, and pay a fine, among other things, should have the opportunity, to become citizens. I actually think that would help our weakening economy, as they would start paying taxes, would be able to buy things such as homes and pay applicable taxes. PLEASE, you can say you agree or disagree and share your viewpoint, I just want to see people's position on this issue, and also NO STUPID REMARKS.

Yeah, I get your points, but I'm talking about the ones already here, I mean com'on, we seriously can't kick out +12 million people, it's just impossible, we have to do something to stop them from coming in illegally and try to fix the problem with the ones already here. and about the s.s., I'm not illegal, but I know people who are, and they don't go around stealing a S.S. #, they just make one up and put it on.

Oh, also, some people give immigrants their S.S. and then people have like 4 illegal immigrants working one S.S., for a legal person, my Econ. teacher told me that. and also, I'm also anti-illegal immigration, but I think we need to stop just saying "go back to your country", cuase they're NOT, and come up with a solution, like temporary work permits or something

Everyone must be anti-illegal immigration which is different from people who are using this fact by express their xenophobia feeling toward undocumented people. The administration should do something to get rid of this issue, but not like some crazy people on this website think that: deport all undocumented people, it's not gonna happen. So let's get real.
Some of the undocumented people who commit crimes in the US should be deported with no exception, but the good ones must be treat differently. They came here illegally they broke the law, that's wrong. Deport all of them is wrong also, cause two wrongs don't make a right.
This immigration issue cannot resolve with anger, animosity and xenophobia feeling, because most of our ancestors came here illegally we cannot hide this fact, and that's why America is a nation of Immigrant!

We can never stop saying to go back to your country of origin if you're illlegal. Yes, they are leaving and when all of the states have been forced by their citizenry to enforce our laws, such as Oklahma has done, it will be impossible for illegals to work or get aid anywhere. We are a society of laws for the preservation of our union, the American people who used to be passive are now aware of the travesty that has been going on here. Being illegal in the USA will be the worst possible thing you could be and it's on the horizon. And it is totally possible to deport them all from every other nation of origin. We've only just begun the good fight. As an American you must surely recognize that we can't remain solvent if we take on all of the people in the world that would like to live here. Now that is impossible. Our middle class is in a back breaking position of supporting this country already without the burden of illegals as well.

It really irritates me when people try to justify the crime of using a SS# that does not belong to them. It doesn't matter if it was actually stolen from a citizen, made up(the chances are pretty high that the made up number belongs to someone) or if they are using a number with the permission of the person owning it. It is still a crime,SS fraud. It would be pretty hard to prove you are an upstanding person worthy of citizenship when you have been working illegally in the country with a SS# that doesn't belong to you. They shouldn't get any of the taxes back that they have paid for with someone else's #. You don't have a clue how many problems legal citizens have to clear their name when their SS# has been used by an illegal. Not only do they have the IRS to deal with when they are fined for not claiming all the income that was reported to them from someone else using their #,but many then take that # and use it to get loans and credit. Don't say that doesn't happen, because it does. I know a young girl who's very first tax return was pulled by the IRS because someone else was also using her #. She is just out of HS with her first job and already she has this nightmare hanging over her head. It isn't a victimless crime.
So to answer your question,No,they shouldn't be given an opportunity to become citizens when they don't follow the laws. Our economy will be just fine without them.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I am hard working, pay my taxes,I don't get paid under the table, I have been in America for almost 50 years and I speak, read and write fluent English.
I also help our economy by paying my bills on time and using my disposable income to purchase luxury items for myself and my family.
The only problem I have is that I am a criminal who earns his money by robbing banks. I think I should be allowed to pay a fine and continue with my criminal activities.
When will you liberals begin to comprehend the fact that breaking the law is not acceptable no matter how you try to justify it.
If you think that these illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay and profit from their crimes then why don't you start by taking a few of them into your home and help to support them? This would take some of them of the public dole in terms of welfare payments, medical costs, college tuition, etc. This way everyone is happy. You get to keep them here and we save our tax dollars.
I hope you enjoyed this literate, intelligent, (if somewhat satirical) answer to what is a fundamentally stupid question.

How can you say SOME do pay taxes and MOST don't get paid under the table in the same sentence?
few American citizens will actually benefit from Social Security that they have paid into.
If an immigrant wishes to become a citizen there is a legal process called naturalization that they can apply for. Get in line behind the immigrants who didn't break the law in the first place.
No rewards for criminals.

'should have the opportunity, to become citizens'
this is where the problem starts. if they wanted to become americans, they would have followed the laws. we have numerous paths to citizenship in the united states, and yes, it may take some time, but at least you respect american laws. when you have no respect for our laws, and just decide what you want to do, then you do not deserve special treatment.
we cannot pass amnesty for this very reason. If we pass amnesty, you are telling all the people who abided by our laws, they they wasted their time and energy.
I very much disagree with the fact that they pay taxes. Its illegal for employers to higher illegal immigrants, and it is illegal for an illegal alien to get a job in the united states. . if an illegal can show documentation that they can be legally hired, then they broke the law by either stealing an identity or lied on their tax forms (which are both felonies).
this would now mean that illegals have broken the law once getting into this country, broken the law twice for lying on their tax forms, and broken the law thrice for getting a job.
is this not the sign of a career criminal?
many states have a 3 strike rule. if break the law three times, youre sitting in prison for 25 years. these illegal aliens have just broken 3 laws.. do you honestly expect them EVER to follow them?
so the benefits for employers to higher illegals, is that they can now save money on payrol taxes, workers insurance (including workmans comp), and can pay them less then the minimum wage.
how would amnesty strengthen the economy?
employers give benefits and good pay to keep workers. unemployment is so low, these companies know they will be struggling if that person quits their job. What happens when you have 12 million new workers? why would an employer give good pay, if they know that if the person quits, they have no problem finding other workers?
next, you assume that if we gave them amnesty they would start paying taxes.
so how could this be enforced? we have companies knowingly hiring illegal workers under the table, do you honestly think that if we granted amnesty, these companies would start following the laws, or do you think they would just keep looking for more new illegal aliens?
im betting, they sure as **** wouldnt start following laws.
buying homes.
this goes back to my previous point. how would these illegals afford to purchase homes, when they are paid minimum wage, because theres no incentive to pay workers good wages to keep them?
amnesty would be a disaster for both the illegal aliens and americans.

Most Americans are anti-illegal immigration for many reasons. Unregulated mass illegal or legal immigration would bankrupt this country. The costs of illegal immigration in handouts, lost tax dollars (income tax not sales tax), the cost to our health care systems, welfare systems as well as costs of crimes and the incarceration of illegal immigrants far far exceed the small amount of tax, (how can you pay tax if you don't have a social security number?) or other contributions to this country. Add to this the lack of desire to assimilate into American culture and you have a recipe for disaster if illegal immigration is not stopped. There is also the issue of unsecured borders which pose an enormous risk to our national security. I am completely surprised we have not had another terrorist attack perpetuated by people coming in amongst the thousands of illegal immigrants entering the country daily. It is doesn't matter what country of origin illegal immigrants are from contrary to what some would have you believe. Americans do not want to lose their national identity. We should not have to learn another language, we should not be subjected to public protests by illegals burning our flag or other atrocities. This is our Country not a polyglot boarding house.

the problem is that these people are here illegally. plain and simple. if they are hard working and truly want to become citizens they HAVE TO COME HERE LEGALLY.
if they are not here legally the fact that they are hard working or not is irevelant. they are here illegally and they know it. they have run the risk of being deported and they that too. when you gamble and loose that is part of the game. you can not say i lost the gamble and now i want to change the rules. they knew what the concequences would be and they took the risk.
it's just that there are sooooo many of them now that it's impossible to turn a blind eye any more like we did in the past. not to mention that they are doing the marching and demonstrating and calling us racist because they were the ones that commited the crime, not us. they are burning our flag and making it impossible not to become upset.
they have kicked the sleeping dog and the dog is now starting to bite.
the cause and effect has come from them. we are only reacting to the millions of illegals that have forced themselves on to us and we are fighting back.
not to mention the fact that there are soooo many criminals illgeally coming here also. things were never this way before. NEVER!!!!!!!
the influx of illegals can not continue. we are being swamped with illegal mexicans that do nothing but complain and demonstrate and demand entitlements that they are not entitled to!!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

keep doing what we are doing random raids, deporting causing attrition, finish the wall, and continue changing laws to strip illegals of jobs, housing, benefits, arresting employers. our politicians are backing off amnesty so fast you can see skid marks. politicians opinions have changed to no amnesty just since october because they know it's political suicide to continue supporting it. the random raids are causing many to go back to the country they came from for fear of losing everything in that they will not be able to pay their bills, may lose their houses, cars. lets not forget if taxes were not paid they would forfeit their nest egg. it's not going to get better for illegals. the one thing they did not count on is for them to get amnesty would deprive our children of a secure future. they are on our turf threatening our young, not a smart move. don't buy into the fallacy our media and politicians are selling that 20 million illegals cannot be removed. it's being done even as i type this. check the links as proof of what i'm saying.

Well some of you claim that the ONLY reason that you are against illegals is because they are " ILLEGAL " if you make them LEGAL then logic would also make them no longer " ILLEGAL" So Document them, have them learn English , Pay taxes , get tax returns , use REAL SS #s and get payed real wages so they AREN'T " driving down the economy " and EVERYONE WINS .
What are you concerned about ??? Jobs are not guaranteed anyways- Mexican citizens are getting " Your " jobs anyways because they will work for less.
