Do people elected with the help and support of a Party represent the people who elected them or the Party that keeps them in office? Do they toe the Party line out of political necessity or are the representative of the people back home?

On February 10, 2004, the French Parliament voted 494 to 36 to approve a legislative bill which bans all conspicuous “religious” articles of faith from public schools. The bill passed France's national legislature and was signed into law by President Jacques Chirac on March 15, 2004. The law disproportionately affects those for whom the wearing of “religious” articles is considered an obligation, not a choice—an obligation that cannot change, whether the practitioners are in public or private spheres.

Does that mean that the French said they could NOT wear religious things or they HAD to? I have to write a paper. Please help me understand!

When thier republican congress grew government larger than ever and the Dems have held pretty good to thier promise. Citizens Against Government Waste, in its annual "Congressional Pig Book," released this week, reports $13.2 billion in pork-barrel spending for the current fiscal year, down from $29 billion in 2006
In other words the Dems have already halfed earmark spending, truth kicks your backside doesn't it cons.

Barack Obama is the only black Senator (and he is 50% white and Cherokee).

And if Gay people represent 10% of the population - then why are there only 0.0022% gay people in the House of Representatives (Barney Frank is the only one)?

And now that Larry Craig has resigned, there are no gay people in the Senate either.... so that's 0.00%

Yet Republicans claim that the minorities are trying to make "everything" about them....

Why is the Bush administration sending 160,000 troops to Iraq vs. 10,000 to Afganistan? Why did Bush switch focus to Saddam when Bin Laden is still at large? What is his logic behind these decisions?

"Holiday"

Say, hey!

Hear the sound of the falling rain
Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!)
The shame
The ones who died without a name

Hear the dogs howling out of key
To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!)
And bleed, the company lost the war today

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday

Hear the drum pounding out of time
Another protester has crossed the line (Hey!)
To find, the money's on the other side

Can I get another Amen? (Amen!)
There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!)
A gag, a plastic bag on a monument

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday

"The representative from California has the floor"

Sieg Heil to the president Gasman
Bombs away is your punishment
Pulverize the Eiffel towers
Who criticize your government
Bang bang goes the broken glass and
Kill all the fags that don't agree
Trials by fire, setting fire
Is not a way that's meant for me
Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah!

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives

This is our lives on holiday

Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance companies provide 68 million Americans with health care financing. The blues paid billions of dollars for care attributable to illness related to tobacco use. In attempt to recover some of this amount, the Blues filed suit in a federal district court against tobacco companies and other tabacco products. The conspiracy involved misrepresentation about the safety of nicotine and its addictives properties, marketing efforts target children, and agreements not to produce or market safer ciggaerettes. As a result of the defendants' efforts, many tobacco users developed lung, throat, and other cancers, as well as heart disease, stroke, emphysema, and other illnesses. The defendants asked the court to dismiss the case on the ground that the plaintiff did not have standing to sue. Do the Blues have standing in this case? Why or why not?

A guy friend and I were discussing terrible pranks one could pull that would be really horrible. He suggested the following:
Go to a neighborhood where you see someone new is moving in. Then go door to door introducing yourself as the new person moving in and explain to them that you are a registered sex offender and have to notify everyone. Word will spread that the new neighbor is a sex offender.

Cruel, eh?! Well, this hypothetical led to quite the legal debate. What laws are being broken? You're introducing yourself as the sex offender and are only claiming to live in that house. So I don't see how it would be slander unless you claimed to be THAT person. So, philosophical legal types, let's hear it. How is this prank illegal?

I have an ongoing court case, a car was given voluntarily back to the company but they are trying to say they repossessed it. I am fighting this in court and go back in November. The company gained a judgment against me but I am disputing this and the judgment against me. At the last hearing the court discharged the judgment as to quantum. What does this mean?
