Remember, a yes vote on cloture is really a yes vote on the bill. If they are against the bill, they should vote no on cloture.

I'm an accountant and i need to report to her on a daily, weekly, monthly and every time she wants me basis... but if she comes sad from home, she will act horribly and tell me mean things... She also promotes her two stupid daughters, encouraging them to act like all the world was theirs and that everybody in the firm should bow down like peasants in front of them. Do I quit, or do I try to solve the problem?

I moved into this apartment 2 weeks ago. Ever since I have had an ongoing problem with my neighbour that lives downstairs. We kinda resloved the issue and have become somewhat friends. She got an eviction letter from our landlord on thursday as a result of a court case and the judge ordered her out by the 23rd(which was yesterday) and she doesn't seem concerned at all with moving. So me being the nice caring person that I am have been trying to help her find an apartment, which isn't easy because she has 3 cats and 2 dogs that she will not give up. And to top it off she is on welfare and can only afford an apartment for like $400 a month or less all included.
So to get to the fraud. She doesn't have a house phone so I have been letting her use mine to make phone calls. We were sitting out on my front porch on Thursday while she was making calls and I went inside to get a drink and I come outside and she is on the phone with a credit card company (I believe) trying to get credit.

I know they broke the law and are now demanding that they be rewarded for it. But come on, everyone who got off the boat when immigration was lax (just like it is today) pre 1850 came without papers, so what is the big deal? I know I would be clueless if my gardner and my maid did not show up because they were hauled off to Mexico. What would I do? And the fellow who washes my cars so well for a pittance is undocumented. They work hard and work for peanuts. Give them a break.

The existing neighbors fence has been there 20+ years and he claims to own a few feet on my side of the fence and said if I put new fence up next to his I would be encroaching on his property and would have to move it. Getting a survey would cost more than the fence itself so I dont want to do that if possible. Could I use adverse posseion law because I have been maintaining this disputed area for 20 + years? If so do I need to file any kind of paperwork for adverse possesion / squatters rights and is that going to be an expense just like a survey? I live in Missouri, and it is a 10 year period for occupying land. Were talking about a 1-2 foot strip of land about ~75 feet long BTW.

Our form of government relies on taxes, from the model of democracy which arose in New England in the 17th century and beyond. It occurs to one that the incredible economic strength our nation gives each and every one of us provides so many intangibles that create our personal wealth. Our education system, defense system, our infrastructure, our roads, hospitals, and countless things we all enjoy, and need, to lead full and productive lives. Isn't the cry of smaller gov'mt, cut taxes, and so on just a little disengenuous, and, well, selfish? We all share the burden, and the success, of a stable and well funded government. Without it, we would be a backwords place, seems to me Republican's "neocon" talk speaks to narrow minded selfishness, populist easy to understand rhetoric, that simply ignores the great strides we the people have created, and, appeals to our most selfish instincts.

I was reading a report that said that TX is now number 3 behind Miss and Louisiana in terms of poor people. And that TX has the largest gap of rich and poor people in the state. Do you think the illegal mexicans are contributing to the state's decline? Are they eating up our resources?

Also our crime problems in Dallas and Houston--high murders, robberies, thefts make me think this state doesn't have any hope. What do you guys think?

I'd like to address the USA on this one specifically (as if you're not 90 percent of the respondents in here anyway) because I realize in the days of founding fathers your constitution was written so that the CHURCH actually governed politics.

But how can you be sure the tables aren't turned and GOVERNMENT manipulates religion to control it's people?

Do you really think government and religion should be linked?

Do you think it's possible religion was corrupted by government?

If yes, then how can you still support their being linked?

I think religion has always played a part in governing politics in one way or another, not just in the USA as a democratic society, is it possible that the two being intertwined is actually a detriment to it's people....because of the fact it can all be manipulated?

U.S. has the legitimate right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. The U.S. would have no obligation to obtain prior authorization from the UN Security Council,
Congress agreed to go to war
Iraqis lived under a brutal regime that protects its own interests ahead of its people, is a regime with no conscience.
US allowing it to continue letting innnocents continue to suffer under this rule is a nation without conscience.
a crime against humanity consists of acts of persecution or any large scale atrocities against a body of people, as being the criminal offence above all othersmurder, extermination, torture, rape, political, racial, or religious persecution and other inhumane acts reach the threshold of crimes against humanity only if they are part of a widespread or systematic practice.
No conscience when these thing are said about Bush
all cowards can do is write it. blog it, but it does not make it so.

im a rapper and me and my friends formed a "label". Were actually getting really good feedback. So we typed up a contract on ms word. The contract states that we are not allowed to record with any other labels and are entitled to 2 lp albums. It also states that it is legally binding. I signed but i dont want to work with the label anymore. It is NOT notarized. Am i still obligated to the contract?

Strength is not just resources it also requires balls and brains. Given the US could quite easily lose Iraq and Afghanistan if the UK withdraws under brown and is alone. Given the drew in Korea at a great cost, lost in Cambodia and Vietnam (again hugely costly). They also never even tried to protect Tibet yet cry they support freedom so where were they? It is clear that the US firepower and gear is enormous so how come 2-bit governments can win like Vietnam? Or cause such trouble like Iraq? So if you consider a real power like China or Russia could America show true strength of will or simply break like they have in the past. Even economically sanctioned states have done OK against the US and UN. Do they really have what it takes? Or is it just a big, bully that will fall flat on its belly? What do you think?

Note: No talk of nuclear weapons. China and Russia can throw them back. That is an all lose situation.
