I had an "exchange" (not really) with a supposedly intelligent and educated (in the liberal definition) person recently that thought that the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protected every weapon EXCEPT 'assault rifles'. Their reasoning was that since assault/military weapons were not actually MENTIONED, then "obviously" the founders of our country did not mean to refer to them, or to modern military hardware. It was an amazing "interpretation", to say the least. Thomas Jefferson (the penman) and many others did mention elsewhere during their lifetimes that the common people must have the means to defend themselves against (government) tyranny, and even had the right to overthrow a tyrannical despot. How else would this be accomplished without parity in force (weaponry) and power?

Yes, I will finally admit that I have a li'l liberalism in me. Some issues I lean a tad to the left. Most things to the right.

Who will stand up and declare that they, too, have views from both parties?

We continue to be fed lies with regards to the war in iraq and afghanistan. So when do we hold the media accountable?

“I believe demolishing Hussein’s military power and liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk.” Defense Policy Board Member Ken Adelman, 2/13/03

“It is not knowable how long that conflict would last, it could last, you know, six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.” Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, 2/7/03

“My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators.” Cheney 3/16/03

“We know where (the weapons) are, they’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, north and south somewhat.” Rumsfeld, 3/30/03

“Major combat operations have ENDED.” President George W. Bush, 5/1/03

“We’re dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon.” Deputy Secretary of Defense, Paul Wolfowitz, 3/27/03

“Iraq will not require sustained aid.” O.M.B. Director Mitch Daniels, 3/28/03

“A year from now, I’d be surprised if there’s not some grand square in Baghdad that is named after President Bush.” Former Pentagon Advisor Richard Perle

This is according to:
http://usliberals.about.com/od/homelandsecurit1/a/IraqNumbers.htm
Estimated Insurgency Strength, Oct 2006 - 20,000 - 30,000
Estimated Insurgency Strength, March 2007 - 70,000

Daily Insurgent Attacks, July 2005 - 70
Daily Insurgent Attacks, Nov 2006 - 180
Daily Insurgent Attacks, Dec 2006 - 185

Why is the insurgency in Iraq attacking more and growing in size as the Democrats gain more political control in the United States?

I believe it is because the democrats have allied themselves with terrorism and the insurgency to gain political advantage in the United States. To me there is an obvious correlation between Democrats gaining political power and an increase in terrorism.

I was wondering how other people felt about it.

Listen to their messages, their irrational rantings......Silly liberals.....Al failed the libs on radio, and now Rosie has failed liberals and their agenda on America`s flatscreens. Face it.... Americans, generally speaking, are fed up with the anti-American leftest goons that are trying to turn America into Euro-socialist defeatists...How do you feel about that fact ???

I put in a credit app online. The dealership called me, I went to them to look at the cars.. They worked out how much my downpayment would be and how much my trade in value was. I'm a first time buyer, so I was required to have full coverage insurance. I told them it'd take a few days for me to get the insurance b/c I had to get the money. I came in a few days to sign all the paperwork for the car and give them the downpayment. I went back 3 days later (Friday) to provide my proof of ins (after paying $500 for it), signed the title over from my trade in to them and got the car. I receive a call from the dealership on the following monday adv i was not approved and had to bring the car back or get a co signor.

This does not seem legal to me? Anyone have any advise?

As far as flag-bearer of GOP values, the best match I see is Mike Huckabee. Guiliani and McCain have ALOT of political baggage. Thompson is probably not running....

I'm just curious if the Democrats are against war in the Middle East? Or are they ok with War in the Middle east as long as US soldiers are not involved in it?

Shouldn't we have curfews in the UK that mean children aged 8-11 are indoors or in the company of an adult by 8pm and 11-15 year olds by 9pm? Enforced by law, fining or imprisoning parents. What do you think, would it work? Is it a good idea?

On campus today there were tons of people signing a petition to ban smoking on campus. I got to thinking, hey; I don't smoke, so maybe I should sign it. You know, I do hate the smell and smoking kills so... WAIT!!! When did it become OK to try to take away other people's rights just because YOU don't personally like or partake in those rights? I would not sign a petition like that, would you?

How is the following logic?
1) I'm not gay, being gay is gross to me, so gay people should not be allowed to get married.
2) I don't own a gun, I think guns are evil; so no one should be allowed to own a gun
3) I don't drink, I think drinking is bad; so we should not sell alcohol in my county.

In all reality:
I may not smoke, but I do drink so I sure as hell wouldn't like someone to sign a petition to ban alcohol simply because they don't like it. I'm not gay but I sure wouldn't want someone to take my gun away because they don't agree with it.

I heard;
"end the culture of corruption," repeal Bush’s tax cuts, raise the minimum wage, and implement the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations

but the ones I did not hear are the ones they are doing first;
We promise to legislate defeat in Iraq
We promise to give aid and comfort to our enemies
We promise to cripple our intelligence agencies
We promise to bring government to a grinding halt with endless Congressional hearings
We promise to take away more of your money

These are very disconcerting and I am not sure they would have won a few seats had these been made public. It seems they have forgotten about the promises they made publicly.

I’ve seen this with protesters outside the Supreme Court when abortion cases are discussed. Are they saying they’re not allowed to speak up for unborn children in our “liberal society” or something like that? If you have done this please let me know what you were told it means.

Once upon a time - just a year ago anyway, you could rent a three bedroom 2 bath home in my neighborhood for under 800 dollars a month. Now, that the Mexicans -illegal or not- have moved into town and since they can cram 15 or more of themselves into a three bedroom 2 bath home the rent in my neighborhood and town for that matter has almost doubled because landlords KNOW the Mexicans can and WILL pay it. This stinks in my opinion and I think they should all be investigated!

It's International Workers' Day. The US government can ignore the historic contribution of the labor movement all it wants, but to then ask those same working class people for "loyalty" is a slap in the face. Let's set the record straight: the US government never did anything for working class people without a fight.

About the study that concluded that parents and TEACHERS agree that children from religious families have better : Self-Control , Social Skills , And Better Approaches to Learning. . . . than kids with non-religious behavior !!

No surprise for me , but I'm sure this will rile the non-religious and I surely expect answers that'll do everything they can to discredit this study .. .. Ahhh the definition and epitome of denial .
