I'm just curious if the Democrats are against war in the Middle East? Or are they ok with War in the Middle east as long as US soldiers are not involved in it?

I'm surprised at how many answers I'm getting from people talking about how unjustified the war is. That in no way has anything to do with the question.

War is a horrible thing. Think of the innocent Children and women, elderly who suffer because of it. I am against war, but when a country calls the UN for help, it is all our duties to go in and help people who are being killed by some force that only kills for greed and hate. There is a limit on how much outside help can do. Each country and it's leaders need to gain control of their country. The people of Iraq, need to bring Peace to the region, for the sake of the suffering children. Muslims need to become United. Muslims need to find Peace for the sake of future generations. It is all up to them. Without their effort , other countries are somewhat limited. BUT when the Muslims called for help to fight off the terrorists. that is what the UN did. They went in to help. Our time is limited. It is the main role of the Muslims to Unite. Not only the Democrats, but every human that has any sense of logic. Muslims need to be LOYAL to Muslims and bring Peace to their people .

The war that's going on now would not be going in had we not invaded. Iraqi factions would not be killing each other if the US hadn't unilaterally decided to enforce UN sanctions without a UN mandate. That said, we have a responsibility to "fix what we broke" to paraphrase Colin Powell. The problem is the situation doesn't seem to be getting any better. Things may seem to quiet down for a while but then the rate of violence increases again. I wonder if the presence of US forces there is just throwing gasoline on the fire. If so then we have to decide if we're really doing any good in Iraq or should we withdraw and let the Iraqi's settle it themselves with limited US help. In the end, the only thing that matters, given everything that's happened, is what is best for the Iraqi's.

The Dem's don't see "a" war in the Middle East, they see multiples. They don't understand that each place of engagement is a battlefront.

They feel sorry for the poor misunderstood people of militant Islam.

Don't you know that we are the big-bad-wolf at the door?

They take what is fed them without question (unless the big meany Bush says it).

NO, I don't like war. NO, I don't want to live like this forever. BUT, there is a need to keep our enemies off our soil . . .

I have family out there . . .
This country has a duty to them.
Fund them!

1st off, Afghanistan is not in the Middle East, it is in Southern Asia.
Dems are opposed to the war in Iraq, because we don't know what the goals are, the objectives and justifications keep changing.
WMD's were the 1st justification, but they didn't exist.
Then it was Saddam, well now he's dead.
I'm not sure what we are supposed to be doing there now.
And yet, every day, soldiers are killed and wounded, and the civilian casualties mount alarmingly.
We unleashed a civil war in Iraq, and if we were serious about stopping it, we would need 20,000 troops for every 1,000,000 people (according to Rand Study, "Burden of Victory; The Painful Arithmetic of Stability Operations").
That comes out to about 500,000 troops, or about 4 times what we have in country now.
So what are we doing there, besides being targets.
What are the possible objectives of our government in Iraq.
Give me a good reason to stay, and the force of arms to accomplish it, and you will see a change of heart for many Democrats.

This the situation.
We really cant win this war, But asking for a timetable will be embolden the enemy realy.it will be like giving them time to regroup . they'll only wait till the time we set to leave and then start the attacks.

If we go the way ofthe democrats i.e. cutting funding,

Is like putting the soldiers out there without food and enough guns etc... thats what cutting funds means.

God bless America.

What about Afghanistan?

The first thing about any war is that it is right. A war may be worth fighting whether or not it is winnable if only it is just. Unprovoked invasion based on lies and deceit is not right.

The second thing is that, if a war is not entirely justified, is it at least winnable? We are losing in Afghanistan--a war that was at least half way justified. Why wasn't Afghanistan our shining beacon of democracy in the Middle East?

Well Bush's daddy got to play with tanks and planes and bombs and stuff. Little Bush just wanted his turn too.

I'm against war in general. I'm against unjustified wars started under false pretenses in particular. That also goes for wasting soliders lives in wars fought with no clear plan for victory, no specific, concrete objectives, no chance of succeeding, and horrible management.

I am for finding Osama bin Laden, though. Hey remember the whole "dead or alive" thing? I was 100% for catching the guy who attacked us on our soil. Guess Bush isn't anymore.
