...or would you protect yourself and your family.
----------------------------------------------
I've a little problem with this 'surge' effort in Iraq. Everyone is scared - U.S. troops, for themselves - their families. Innocent Iraqi families, caught in the crossfire.

But if it were me. Where would I hide? I ask myself.
Or would I take up arms and defend myself and my family.
The Americans are there to help the Iraqis. But they are also killing them, on purpose or as part of the offensive.

I remember something Donald Runsfeld said early on, within a week or so after the invasion..

He said:
"Well those Iraqis, they are used to dying.".

I was nearly 19 years old at the time,
and I also remember saying to myself:

"I wonder if at some time in the future, someone from another country might say that about me and mine, and those here in this country."

And so, my fellow Americans, what would you do, if the tables were turned?

OTTAWA (CP) - The Conservative party has warned its members that a federal election campaign could start within days, in an internal letter that makes an "urgent" appeal for donations.

Despite Prime Minister Stephen Harper's assurances that he does not want an election, party heavyweights are warning supporters that anything can happen after the federal budget is tabled Monday.

"We need to be ready to campaign within the next week," said the note, sent to party members Thursday.

Not many people are coming into the military. And the ones that are in are being extended for terms longer than what they signed for. Example, I served a tour in Iraq and when it was time for me to ETS out the military the army came up with the Stop Loss Stop Movement program which means if you're still in that unit after a set dead line you have to redeploy with that unit. You can’t get out. You can’t relocate to another unit unless you reenlist. I was over the dead line by 9 days and my unit held me for another year beyond my contract to go back to Iraq. So some soldiers like my brother are on there 4th, 12-15-18 month deployment mine was 15. So as you can see many of the same soldiers are repeating the same long process and flirting with death and why is it that most people who say they support the war and thinks its right, wont join to fight for the cause? I’m sure there's millions. Rank is free all the way up to E-5 SGT and the age limit is 42, so what’s the problem??

The legend lives on from the Beltway on down
Of the big fake they call Richard Cheney
The man, it is said, never thinks of our dead
When the skies of November turn rainy.

With a Haliburton score - $100 billion or more
Those oilmen sure made it sound urgent
Our good soldiers would die in the blink of a lie
And the bombs of Iraqi insurgents…

Concluding the terms with some Saudi oil firms
They left fully loaded for Baghdad
But later they’d find as they left men behind
The right armor just wasn’t to be had

Freedom’s the pride of America’s side
But why are the guilty forgotten?
Our brave daughters and sons and their army of one
Are not fighting Osama Bin Ladin

As criminals go ours are bigger than most
But we’re hopeful and now there’s a reason
An untouchable man’s doing all that he can
May they all go on trial for treason!

The conservatives have brought this country to an unnessecary war, tried to outlaw abortion, stop gay marrige, gave the country a huge defecit and pushed their religious veiws and morals on the country who's basis is religious freedom and beleiving how you want . They have had 7 years that they have ruled Washington. Just because the Democrats are back in the game because of all the mistakes the conservatives have made does not mean they are taking over. Also I hate how conservatives say liberals can never admit to being wrong... liberals can never admit to being wrong ? Wake up how long did it take George Bush to admit this entire war was a mistake?? Democrats have a long way to go before they take over the government. It would probably be best if they did.

GW bush is the epitome of what our enemies think americans are.....and we voted that hick right in (allegedly). most people graduate fromm high school.....i n what, the 20th ranked school system in the world? the media dazzles us with american idol and who wants to meet a millionare, while the governemtn and private corporations stealmillions from honest hard working citizens (look in every paper of every city). but can we really be expected to make decisions when one of the biggest debates (abortion) mostly stems from bedroom irrseponsibility. also the "overweight problem". if we cant watch who and how we sleep with or watch what we eat, how can we even think about talking about starting a war? i dont know, maybe im just cynical but when my neighbors are more interested in a car wreck than the train wreck that is social security, i start to worry. but then, im sure im alone, arent i?

We all remember President Bush had promised a full internal probe of the Plame leak.
Well, James Knodell, director of the Office of Security at the White House, told a congressional committee today that he was aware of no internal investigation or report into the leak of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame. Makes you wonder why?

A former friend of mine got into trouble with the property mgr and attempted to "strangle him". He is being charged with "assault causing bodily harm". My friend says it was a "set-up" and if he wins he will take out a lawsuit against the property mgr for $. If the property mgr wins he will sue my friend for "damages".
My friend needs help as he will probably get probation. I think probation is not enough...he needs "mental help" as he has a terrible temper ;is a control freak; is immature and unstable and likes to be admired all the time.
The prosecutor needs to know this information ...but I do not want to be called to the stand in the court as the person who gave the information and be "cross-examed etc. How do I tell the prosecutor without making myself a witness etc. My former friend will take out a lawsuit against ME if I get involved.
He needs help = doesn't realize it. He is not stable. He works , makes alot of money but that is all. He prides himself on being an Indian man.

I just need some thoughts from the men in the Law Enforcement side, I know that you guys are always busy, and I respect & appreciate that totally, here's my concern....

I really like this man, but he's not showing any signs of interest. He works graveyard, and I understand that he's tired and needs to get his rest, I'm all for that! but in 6 months of "dating" we've gone out twice, and the last time was in mid-December! he would come by sometimes at night for a few minutes during his shift (stayed up later waiting....) Now nothing. I get a call maybe once a week, maybe a text.

I care for him DEEPLY, and a tiny glimmer of hope would make me happy, but since his grandma died recently ( she raised him as a child) I feel like 1. I can't really ask for much 2. I can't just leave him since it happened like 2-3 weeks ago. It just seems like I am always sad because I don't see him, and I want to be with someone who appreciates all that I am and have to offer.

how do you cope?

All of a sudden "discussion" topics are not allowed and neither are political discussions that don't agree with a democrat. Anything that contradicts the democrat opinion is considered to be "hate" talk. I consider that to be "silencing" those whom you do not agree with.
