He has absolutely no chance of winning the nomination anyway. See his approval rating lately?
The "Tar Baby" insult will carry on with him like the Mucaca remark did for George Allen.

Without yet seeing or hearing of this and the context, if any, as how it was said or used would be a bit premature for any logical answer. However, how or why would a person like this, a war hero, a POW submitted to torture, a public figure...etc. It does not make any sense that he would use such a term in a bad way. It defies logic! He will get some bad publicity if it is true. But we all to soon forget the sacrifices and devotion to this country that many folks make. I will be watching the news. As of right now I just search the Internet, quite quickly I admit, and I found no breaking news yet. Interesting. I will be watching for more info.

No, he shouldn't. He SHOULD step down for showing absolutely NO leadership skills the past 7 years we've been "led" by George Bush. John Kerry was a flip-flopper? How many times did McCain actually speak out against Bush's policies, only to go and kiss Bush's butt when the neo-cons got angry? The guy is too busy jumping on and off bandwagons to be President.

Alan M used the term "Tar Baby" on yahoo answers. Should Alan M be banned for life and branded a racist? Mike B follows suit with use of same slur.
I have to hear it in context to care. That said I have taken to throwing my vote away on third party candidates that actually represent my point of view. I used to think my friends were crazy but if you really look at the results attained by both parties we have not changed direction in decades. The only difference in the dems and reps is how fast we go that way.
Step back and look at both parties. Then go find another one.

Nah... McCain is 70 years old, & he still uses some of the (now politically incorrect) euphormisms of his earlier days. The Media know this...- and they ALSO know that because of his age & linkage with Bush & the War in Iraq- that his days as a viable candidate for president- are numberd. They'll cut him some slack- and let him go "quietly into that dark night" of history...

NO HE SHOULD NOT but the poor guy prob dosent have a chance now, because black leaders are pitching their fit...about something that wasnt even directed toward them!!! He could say something about a black magic marker and they would probably start in...we are not allowed to voice our opinion at all. I feel really sorry for that guy and in my opinion anyone who has a problem with his unracial statement is obviously way to sensitive and if they dont like white people ever using the word black or anything in that context then what are they doing here?

I am not a McCain fan or even a Republican, but if you read his statement in context, you will realize that he didnt mean it as a racial remark...
Considering the horrors that this administration has imposed upon our country, McCain's statement is really nothing compared to that!

John "Amnesty" McCain should not run for President since he is a sell-out to the American People.
He is also foreign born (Panama Jack) and a stooge for Corporate farms in AZ!

I think it would unfair for Johnny to step down. He's still going through shell shock and he sometimes thinks he's back on the battlefield. Just because he had a slip of the brain doesn’t make him more of a problem then the rest of those nutty Republicans.
