What I am trying to do here is open a dialog that takes the average conservative -- who as we know, detests both these people -- beyond the easy shot of making a big deal out of Barack Obama's middle name and parentage, or Hilary's husband's affair, of who's ugly or who's black, to the crux of the central issue facing voters in the next election, which is leadership.

Who would do a better job?

Please take a few minutes to consider this. Resist the cheap shot if you have it in you to do so. While it's certainly true that more syllables won't get you more than 2 points, please bear in mind that using an adult vocabulary will increase any literate reader's respect for your intelligence and opinion.

Ann Coulter called John Edwards a "******" in a presentation she made to a Republican audience and was cheered. Are there any Republicans who agree with me that calling a man who is married to a woman and who has children with that woman a "******" does not make much sense? I hear on here often enough that the Liberals are runing American by way of, running the media, forcing a gay agenda, wanting all babies aborted, and rejecting religion.

Yahoo answers will suspend your account for being conservative.
Liberals are all on drugs, and collect welfare.
Clinton is directly responsible fro 9/11.
As well as a wealth of other seemingly absurd statments. Do there statments have any merit or is it just a case of paranoia?

Then why is Atty General Gonzalez "too busy" to give Congress documents it requests?

Why have the numbers of documents made Classified by the government at least doubled since Bush took office?

And why has the backlog of unfulfilled Freedom of Information Requests jumped by more than three times in the last two years?

Nothing to hide Mr President? You think it's ok to listen in on us, read our email, see our credit card purchases, monitor our web surfing, jail us and strip us of our right to due process if YOU think we might be terrorists, force us into free speech zones to protest, and you even want to see what books we check out at the library?

I've met enlisted people who have their Masters in various disciplines. I've met officers who have a BA in History, Literature, Philosophy, and Political Science...with admittedly poor grades. The military encourages officers to behave in a superior manner to enlisted. I was in the military as an enlisted man. It was the most demeaning experience of my life. I would never return to it. I remember going to sick call for strep throat, in serious pain, and having to wait for the doctors to put a band-aid on a reserve Air Guard Lieutenant's hand..who came in after I did. All I wanted was something for the pain. I was given nothing. The military was a totally humiliating experience and I discourage any young person from enlisting in the military. Does the military treat enlisted like scum and treat officers like royalty? The Army is the worst, I understand, and the Air Force is best as far as treatment of enlisted personnel. So, I can understand if opinions are a little skewed.

He didn't just do great things, but he did them in an atmosphere of incredible adversity. He didn't set out to end slavery, but its evils became so apparent to him that he had to.

There were many who hated him, even other members of his own administration. They said terrible things about him. They compared him to an ape, they made fun of his "unsophisticated" manner of speech. They said he was a war monger trying to plunder the wealthy agricultural assets of the south. They said that he lied to get them to go to war. (His initial pretext for war was to preserve the Union, in 1864 he shifted the focus to slavery.) They said the war was illegal, that it violated the tenth amendment.

He dealt with constant attacks every day, but kept going because he believed what he was doing, protecting the interest of the country and freedom, was right. That's why he's my favorite. Who's yours?
