WASHINGTON - The U.S. acknowledged Friday that Iraq is spiraling downward, with sectarian animosity growing and new Iraqi troops being added too slowly in a precarious mix that could draw the country's neighbors into the violence when the American troops leave.

The sobering assessment from the National Intelligence Council was seen by congressional Democrats — and some Republicans — as new evidence that President Bush's Iraq policy is failing in a big way.

"I do not see anything so far in the report that suggests the president's new plan is a winning strategy that protects America's national interest," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid , D-Nevada.

It wasn't that bad until I lost my car keys and my house keys, I was walking home from the bus stop when I reached for my keys and they were gone. I usually keep them clipped onto my purse but they weren't there. They don't usually have a problem with staying on, so I doubt if they just fell off on their own. So, I called my mom because I did have my cellphone and my purse, just no keys. I called her and told her what had happened and she suggested to have my brother pick up my spare keys that she had with her at work on his way home from college so he could drop them off to me at home so I wouldn't be late to work. That didn't work, Plan B. My mom had to leave work early and bring me my keys, luckily I was able to get into the house with our hidden spare key. So, I'm waiting for my mom meanwhile I'm calling the school bus garage and looking for my bus driver and my keys. The lady at the garage was giving me a hard time so she took my number down and said when she finds my bus driver, she will have her call me back. So, when my mom comes home I'm rushing around the house trying to get dressed for work, and I told my mom; Look, I gotta go. If you hear anything or something comes up, just give me a call. So she says okay and I run out the door. Now Im thinking I went over my time limit and I'm behind schedule because I wasted my hour in between school and work on the phone with the bus garage and I missed my lunch and Im all nervous and out of wack, So I'm speeding out of my development onto the main route to work and a cop passes with his sirons on the opposite side of the road so I pull off, then my phone rings and it's my mom. I accidently hung up on her and my phone slams shut, by then I have a voicemail so I'm all worried about my keys, I try checking my voicemail and typing in my password and then I look up in my rearview mirrors and a cop is chasing me down. I pull off to the side of the road, and I have only been driving for 3 months, So Im nervous, shaking, scared, and my hearts about ready to beat out of my chest; and I'm worried that I'm gonna have to pay a fine and my parents are gonna beat me and etc. I also thought well maybe he'll give me a warning and be nice, nope. not me. Instead he hands me over a speeding ticket for $105 for doing 65 mph. in a 50 mph zone. I guess I just had a need for speed. But honestly, I didn't even realize I was speeding. I just was nervous and had a lot going on at once, too much for that matter. Oh, and they still haven't found my keys. What can I do??

Could non-violence resistance even work? Why or why not? If you think it would work, how?

It would be nice to have a conference of the world's civil, social, and religious leaders on the topic. But, since I do not have the means for such a conference, I will ask the people here.

By the way:
I'm sorry to all who answered before when I posted this question. The question was removed by accident and could not be retrieved. Some people had very good answers and I had planned on awarding the 10 points. Of note, many people felt that the usual techniques of non-violent protest (as practiced by Gandhi) would not be effective against terrorist, since their moral beliefs encourage them to kill you. One person, gave specific examples of failure, such as the Christians in Sudan, and the Jews in Nazi Germany.
On the other hand, someone stated that building more public schools would combat terrorism. They would provide education and an alternative to the terrorist's brain washing "schools".

The Jehovah's Witness parents of the four surviving sextuplets born in B.C. Women and Children's Hospital are accusing the B.C. Ministry of Children and Families of violating their parental rights by seizing three of their children in order to administer blood transfusions.
Which out weighs the other, The parents religious rights or the health and saftey of the children.

Their belief is based on an understanding of the biblical admonition to "keep abstaining from blood" based on Acts 15:28, 29 (NWT).

For years, Wiccans have been fighting for the right to have their religious symbol, the pentacle, added to the military's "approved" list. This article tells their point of view:

http://www.circlesanctuary.org/liberty/veteranpentacle/QuestStorySummary.htm

Basically, the families of people killed in action are asking for permission to have the symbol of their faith displayed on grave markers, in some cases at Arlington.

This links to the current list of approved symbols:

http://www.cem.va.gov/cem/hm/hmemb.asp

As you can see, it includes several Christian symbols, a variety of symbols of other faiths, and even a symbol of non-faith (Atheism).

How would you feel if someone in your family died in military action, and you were told that the symbol of your loved one's religion could not be put on their stone, while symbols of many other religions were permitted?

Is this censorship?

Is anyone actually offended by seeing the symbol of another faith in a cemetery

What would Bush have to do for you to stop supporting him? Would killing a baby, live on TV do it? How about massacring 100,000 Iraq babies? Giving $8T out of the public treasury to his buddies? Destroying Americas reputation overseas?

What else would it take?
