let me ask an earlier question a different way. imagine if bush had been president in 1962, during the cuban missle crisis. we had pictures (=proof) that the soviets had WMD, specifically nuclear weapons. with bush's mentality, he would have launched an invasion to eliminate them. then they would have launched their missles, we would launch ours, and the world would be devastated. he would have had our nation destroyed. so is his policy really as good as many of you argue?

The anti-choice crowd yells "abortion is murder." Okay. If there's a murder there has to be a murderer. So why aren't they lobbying for laws that would prosecute women who have abortions as murderers? Becuase they know that the overwhelming majority of American women, and men, support abortion rights, and no one would ever stand for it.

So then they cop out and want to prosecute the doctors for murder. This is where the real attitude of ant-choicers towards women comes out. They will prosecute the MD but not the woman because they believe the woman is too stupid to understand what she is doing, or too heartless to care.

But let's prosecute the doctor. OK, but then that means the woman has engaged in a conspiracy to murder for hire. She hired a hit man, and paid him to have someone killed. The penalty for that is the same as murder in every state.

So, are the 10s of millions of women who have had abortions idiots, or murderers?

get used to it people..as long as the US is there, they'll sit and watch our troops die.

then when we leave, be it next week or ten years from now, they'll sit and watch everyone get slaughtered.

our troops dying will only delay the inevitable

A friend of mine brought her Grandmother's 15 diamond ring to a well know jewelry store to be reset for her upcoming wedding. The store called her and told her they cannot find the ring. What is she entitled to legally? Does she need to sue the store?

Thanks!

The trade gap has widened, the dollar has collapsed, foreign investors are going instead to Indian & China, & energy prices have nearly doubled since Bush took office. The Iraq War is so unpopular worldwide that there has actually been a huge drop off in both tourism and non Latin immigration. Is there any hope?

Many of the ideas he touted last night were initially concieved by Democrats. For example:

-Wesley Clark called for a "Civilian Reserve Corps" in 2003(http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1000924/posts)

-Reducing CAFE standards has been a talking point for Democrats for 10 years(http://democrats.senate.gov/~dpc/pubs/107-2-253.html)

-Earmark reform has been part of the DNC platform since 2004(http://www.ndol.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=131&subid=207&contentid=253005)

-Clinton and the Republican Congress made a deal in 1997 - balance the Federal budget by 2002 (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/congress/may97/budget_5-2.html)

-John Kerry called for increasing troop levels in Iraq 3 years ago (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-04-18-kerry-nbc_x.htm)

Thoughts?

Recently, a Democratic congressman named Ellison, a Muslim, insisted upon being sworn in on Thomas Jefferson's Koran for symbolic reasons.

Jefferson initiated a war against the Muslim Barbary Pirates and used the Koran to understand his Muslim opponents.

So, what is the real symbolic message Ellison just gave Americans?

Socialism appears to be a terribly misunderstood term here. Many countries, including Canada, live in a moderately socialistic society. There is still a capitalistic spirit...but there are social programs to support ALL citizens. There is no ceiling on what you can earn, but you will pay higher taxes. There is no oppression, and it is still a free and democratic society. Why, then, does everyone assume that socialism = communism?
