Many of the ideas he touted last night were initially concieved by Democrats. For example:

-Wesley Clark called for a "Civilian Reserve Corps" in 2003(http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1000924/posts)

-Reducing CAFE standards has been a talking point for Democrats for 10 years(http://democrats.senate.gov/~dpc/pubs/107-2-253.html)

-Earmark reform has been part of the DNC platform since 2004(http://www.ndol.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=131&subid=207&contentid=253005)

-Clinton and the Republican Congress made a deal in 1997 - balance the Federal budget by 2002 (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/congress/may97/budget_5-2.html)

-John Kerry called for increasing troop levels in Iraq 3 years ago (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-04-18-kerry-nbc_x.htm)

Thoughts?

many of his ideas are pseudo liberal this is true.. but bipartisan is working with the other side and coming to a compromise.. so we'll see if he has when these ideas are actually being implemented.. it's just an idea and speech until the work is done.

It would be nice to think either party would attempt this, but you're kidding yourself if you think it's going to happen anytime soon. Besides, now that those words have passed through Bush's lips, the Dems will deny all those ideas and say they are worthless, regardless of who originally thought of them.

He has his tail between his legs and doesn't want to be a worse president than Jimmy Carter, even though the economy is great.
And to think I voted for him....twice!Where's Pat Buchanan when you need him?

You have to be "bipartisan" when your rubber stamp congress loses control.

It's kind of like people on death row whom all of sudden "find God".

I will never agree with a democrat, no matter how sensible their suggestions are.

no he has not become bipartisan. he has to make concessions because he no longer can control the legislative branch of gov't. let's see what actions he takes, i can't trust a word he says.
