This year I have decided to join a branch of the military. I am stuck between the Air Force and the Coast Guard. I have tried contacting a Coast Guard recruiter twice and I haven't had any response, I heard its because they dont really need more people in the Coast Guard. Anyways I was thinking about port security, investigator or gunners mate for the Coast Guard, does anyone have any info on any of these careers? For the Air Force im thinking fire protection apprentice, anyone have any info on this career and on how likely you are to deploy to the middle east? I have a high school diploma and I want to go to school while in the service. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

I was cited for "driving after suspension" in Minnesota recently and I am very confused why.

I haven't had a Minnesota Driver's License for about 2 years because I live in Wisconsin now. I had to give my Minnesota license to the Wisconsin DMV when I got the Wisconsin license. I assumed that meant the Minnesota license would be cancled.

But I was pulled over in Minnesota by a county Sherrif Deputy and he tells me my license was suspended and that he can't let me drive in the state - so my car is towed and I'm stuck with this DAS citation that will cost me a fine and higher insurance.

I have an unpaid speeding ticket from Minnesota from at least 8 months ago, so I can see how they might suspend my license -- but I didn't have a license to suspend. My Wisconsin license is valid, so I don't see how I can be told I don't have a valid license. The officer told me I could drive anywhere exept MN.

Wondering if anyone knows if I can do anything, or if I will have to just pay the fine.

I sold a broken laptop on eBay 12/12/06 asis for parts or repair. I received what I thought was a cashier's check for $325 on 12/18. He received the laptop 12/23, and sent a vulgar email saying that the laptop does not have a useable operating system. I replied, that it was being sold for parts, and no os was included. 12/29, I received a $20 fee from my bank on a returned personal check. He now has the money and the laptop. He is not willing to return the money and said he is only willing to return the laptop if I remove the negative feedback I left for him, pay for return shipping, and pay for his fees for stopping payment. After a month of arguing, I ultimately agreed to his request contingent with not having to pursue this legally. Now he's back to vulgarities and not willing to resolve amicably.

What legal recourse do I have, who can I contact, and what are the step in persuing this interstate fraud (I live in Illinois, he lives in Michigan)? What am I entitled to?

Please help!

True to his word, Bush will not raise taxes on business or the rich. Instead he proposes to tax the middle-class. He wants to tax employer paid health care insurance as an income to the employee.
This new tax isn't small potatoes. Its going to amount to billions of dollars coming right out of middle-class pockets. Everybody knows the middle class isn't paying its fair share to the government anyway.
The upside is that the rich, who are so over burdened and at the edge of fiscal ruin, won't be feeling the pinch of this new tax.
There is talk of a new foundation to be headed by the Bush family and dedicated to collecting donations from the poor to help the rich. Your contributions will be most welcome.

The last time I checked, www didn't stand for 'American Controlled Service'. But everytime I even remotely comment or criticize an American political ideology, I get told (as a Canadian) that I am not welcome on this forum. Is freedom of speech just something Americans have been trained to say, but don't know the meaning? I'm not taking potshots, or running down the country and its people. I'm merely asking questions...hopefully to inspire intelligent conversation. But apparently, this is no longer the World Wide Web...it has become America's very own blogfest...

throughout the 231 years in military history, Marines and Soldiers have always been putting eachother down. Its is friendly batching, after all we both do the same thing at the end of the day.But one of those branches is by far the best. I belonged to one of those two fine organizations, so I know which is the best, now I want to hear the civilians point of view. what do you think and why?

And to prove it, they cite another myth like"she was holding hands with a NAMBLA guy." or "she was riding on a parade float with a NAMBLA guy."

Hilarious that people actually believe an elected Democratic official would support such a disgusting organization.

Sources tell ABC News that the plot may have involved moving between 10 and 20 suspects believed to be affiliated with al Qaeda in Iraq into the United States with student visas — the same method used by the 19 al Qaeda terrorists who struck American targets on Sept. 11.
