throughout the 231 years in military history, Marines and Soldiers have always been putting eachother down. Its is friendly batching, after all we both do the same thing at the end of the day.But one of those branches is by far the best. I belonged to one of those two fine organizations, so I know which is the best, now I want to hear the civilians point of view. what do you think and why?

The answer is: it depends
Some people seem to think the various military services are akin to professional sports teams. We all have our "favorites". You see this even within the services. The Infantry will claim superiority over Cavalry and vice-versa. However, the ultimate point of the military is to defend the country and defeat our enemies. In different scenarios, one will be more appropriate than another. For example, if you need a beachhead stormed (Iwo Jima), the Marines are your primary resource. If you need an enemy airfield seized (Panama), the Army will be tapped for it's expertise.
Each has their place and function. Try to resist the urge to name one "the best" because theres always strengths and limitations for each.

I was in the army (infantry) and knew many prior serivce Marines that joined the Army. They appeared better trained than the average GI.
The reason they left the Marines was that they were family men and the Army takes better care of dependant familes. Whether that is true or not I cannot say.
The Marines get my vote is that it is a smaller organization than the Army which allows the USMC to be more selective and devote more time to training individual men/women.
Most elite units are good for the same reasons. That's why the Rangers are better than the average infantry unit.

Hands down Marines are the best! The Army is great and even have a son in the Army. You can't beat the Esprite De Corp from the Marines. Once a Marine Always a Marine..you have life long buddies no matter which conflict you were in, you have something in common!

I have lots of friends in the Marines and Army. We've compared both sides and determined that the Army treated its soldiers better (quality of life, housing, etc...). The Marines training is usually more rigorous, but the Army has more specialty jobs. The Marines are a first strike, short longevity fighting force. The Army is a full-time war, logistical, and occupational force.
So, I would have to say that the Army is better.

I think all branches of our military is great. But i have to be partial, my boyfriend is 3rd Id army.(Based on talking to the ones i know) I think that the Marines do things without thinking. So far all of the Marines that i have met are concided, rude, and act like they know everything about everything.My bf was stationed in GA and ive met quiet a few.I appologize if you are a Marine.

Each has a goal and job that the other can not do. Can a race car be a truck or a truck be a race car. I would say no.

Our Army is the back bone of our country. Marines often think themselves superior, but I heartily disagree. Without them, we could still win a war...without our Army we'd be lost...
