Beginning in earnest in the 1600's and continuing up until the end of WWII, Western European countries were out colonizing other peoples and forceably including them in European empires. No nation did this more than Britain with its empire on which the sun didn't set, but France, Italy, Belgium, Germany all got in on the various scrambles for Africa and Asia. These countries grew wealthy on the resources they plundered, though the colonized people seldom shared in the wealth. And none of the European powers used that wealth to plant the seeds of democracy or encourage education of the native people. On the contrary, they just exploited the natives and set tribes against each other.

Now fast forward to today and millions of the people from these former colonies are knocking on your doors, wanting a share in your prosperity. Dont you think you have a moral obligation to open your doors and share the wealth? Isn't this just the chickens coming home to roost?

According to a survey I came accross, for every $1 of positive campaining, there are $10 of negative. It is obvious that people are voting AGAINST a candidate rather than FOR one. Why is this happenning in our American culture? Please no blaming a certain political party or specific people, I am talking about our culture.

It was the only way to get Capone. Is prosecuting illegals for tax evasion the only socially acceptable way of dealing with this issue?
People will be upset if you go after illegals for being illegal. But if you go after them as tax cheats, maybe that's a solution!

the polar icecaps melting cause sea levels to rise?? It should be the exact opposite. If you freeze a bottle of water it expands.
Just would like to know where the global warming crowd is coming from on this.
I believe in localized warming caused by concrete, blacktop, lack of trees etc, but global??? In any realistic view they cannot accurately predict weather patterns from year to year. What makes me think they can predict what the earth will do in 50 years? There are a vast number of variables to be factored in.
But I would like to know about the ice.
Any takers with real knowledge???

Everyone in the media seems to think that John Kerry should do damage control. I think he should be hammering home his message. I thought the media was supposed to prefer the truth over the conservative view of the status quo, but hey, that's just me. Now I know there are some people who join our military out of patriotism, but most smart high school graduates don't join the military because they want a lower probability of dying young, or because they have a deep stance against war. Both of which are very intellectual stances with regard to math and international relations. So I'm with intellect, and not with stupid.

99% of all felonies end in a plea bargain. Basically, the suspect pleads guilty (or agrees to end his or her defense) in exchange for receiving a lesser sentence. Do you agree with this practice? Why or why not?

My friend told me that in some states they are trying to pass laws that would confiscate property(ie cars houses) and money in bank accounts if owned by an illegal alien. Is this true and what states are trying to pass these laws?

Starting this election, "Citizen Journalists" will document election problems if they occur. Word has spread through blogs and website that videotaping on the street is legal and interviewing is OK if permission is asked. People want to catch on tape, any obstructions to the right to vote.

Tomorrow, (Thursday) HBO will begin airing "Hacking Democracy" at 9PM Eastern which shows how in 2000 and 2004, eligible voters were turned away, voters were intimidated, and not enough or broken voting equipment. Diebold, a Republican owned voting machine company tried to have the HBO film canceled.

In one town, Bush received 350,000 consecutive votes! 500,000 registered names disappeared from the voter rolls. The documentary shows how when one person tried to vote, the machine kept chosing the same candidate-- on it's own!

People are worried. Will any of these efforts help to protect a person's right to vote?
