Have never served in the military? I just got to thinking about this when I saw a post asking "Why are the Marines doing a better job in Iraq." And then you have all people who watch the tv and chime in with their opinions etc. But you never catch anyone who is serving in the military in Iraq saying that I am better than the Marines, or the Army is better than this, or that the Air Force is a bunch of this or that. I think that all of us who serve in the military take pride in our individual services, and at the same time love our brothers and sister services. For everyone who has an opinion about who is better than who, I would highly suggest that you go and join whatever service you think is the best and help us all out.

Most Americans do not believe the Bush administration has gone too far in restricting civil liberties as part of the war on terror, a new CNN poll released Thursday suggests.

While 39 percent of the 1,013 poll respondents said the Bush administration has gone too far, 34 percent said they believe the administration has been about right on the restrictions, according to the Opinion Research Corp. survey. Another 25 percent said the administration has not gone far enough.

Asked whether Bush has more power than any other U.S. president, 65 percent of poll respondents said no. Thirty-three percent said yes.Seventy-two percent of poll respondents said they believe the size of the federal government has increased in the past four years. Twenty percent believe it has decreased, and 8 percent had no opinion.

The telephone poll was conducted October 20-22. The sampling error was plus or minus 3 percentage points for questions asked of the full sample and plus or minus 4.5 percentage points for questions asked of the half sample.

Hey, I'm Brandon. I am 16, and I have been looking into differn't possibilities for a career. I have always loved my country(America), and have had a strong sense of patrioticism since I was young. So I have been considering joining the Marines'. But I'm not really sure how to go about it... My Dad says I should get a degree first. Because if you get your B.A. before enlisting, you automatically become a O-1(2nd LT), is this true? If yes, what is the best way to go about qualifing to become an officer? Are there pre-enlistment courses I can take? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I have a friend who has taken an important photo that in my opinion should be sent to a magazine. However she refuses to do this. I feel SO strongly about this that I would send the photo into a magazine myself, but I have been told that I have no right to do this as she has not given her okay for the photo to be printed and that she could sue any magazine that would use it.

She HAS posted the photo all over on-line (which seems a bit hypocritical to me, and while we are friends we have been arguing over this point.) If a photo is posted on-line at public communities and websites, would a magazine have the right to take it and use it?

I was checking out of a motel. Turned on the news, and thought I was watching a rehersal or practice. Didn't take long to figure out the truth. Then. . .. . . the second plane hit. (silence)

I was in shock. .. . . ....were you?

The Army program is apparently monitoring nonmilitary sites. These sites are PUBLIC DOMAIN and are not owned by the government or the Army.

"It's impossible to determine when something crosses the line from not a violation to a violation. It's like trying to define what pornography is or bad taste in music," said Spc. Jason Hartley, 32, who says he was demoted from sergeant and fined for posting a blog he created while deployed to Iraq with the New York Army National Guard.

Does this cross the line, or is it purely in the interest of national security?

Isn't that the bottom line? I mean, not in every case, don't start throwing exceptions at me as I'm sure there are thousands. But really, doesn't it all boil down to that? God or no God?

This is just my viewpoint and I would appreciate any insights. I think our culture is losing its moral basis and becoming more corrupted.
There are so many bad things happening in our culture such as gun violence, race/ethnicity discrimination, high divorce rates, sexually explicit media, drug, alchohol & tobacco problems, etc...
I think something is not right when you live in a culture in which you get ridiculed for saving virginity. These days, losing a virginity is not even a big deal anymore. It has become almost a norm, even among some christians.
I also am in awe when I see so many people getting divorced. I can understand some marriages having to end up in divorce but 50% divorce rate makes me question about our current culture.
Our culture has been marred with sex, drugs, gun violence problems among others. I really want to see our society embrace more morality and remove many of those evil sides.
Do you have any insights regarding this critical issue we face today?

How can she become legal without being deported? She is from West Africa. Since being here she has had one daughter that was born here in USA. The baby's father is also from Africa I think and may or not be legal. I am not sure of that since they are not together anymore. I just want to help her out (if I can)
