I agree with you. These days no one cares about their self esteem. The partentals are always gone with work, or with the lawyers and they think that they are doing somthing right for them when in the end the children in the mess are getting screwed. They need both parents. I for one am still a virgin and no one can make me change my mind about that, im waiting till i get married and with the violence, people just have big ego's that they think they need to prove their point in somthing totally riduclious when the might be facing 50- to life in prison. Today the people are doing w/e they want bcuz they dont think about the future...im a realist, i like to think about real life and not some fantsy world. and also whats happening in the world, i think the president could do more on all the subjects you have presented...i hope that this will get better in time and that the children have a better consious..

american culture is so strange, it's really hard to say "yes, i am satisfied with this broad, nebulous thing called american culture."
in many ways, the only truly american cultural things are jazz, blues and rock'n'roll. other forms of art -- films, novels, painting, sculptures etc. -- were imported from the Old World. but, if blues, jazz and rock are america's cultural legacy, i would be very happy with that.
i do think there is a lot of superficial, meaningless sex in pop culture and i really disapprove of that ... i think it encourages superficiality and shallowness and, in general, the degredation of relationships that should be intimate. but i dont think morality patrols are the answer. i think its up to the people who disapprove of superficial pop sex to make art that discusses superficial pop sex, not just to whine about Hollywood liberals or what have you.
as far as drugs and gun violence ... those have been around forever and ain't going anywhere, so get used to it.

For freedom and economic prosperity, yes!
For spirituality and morality, NO!
Thanks to the liberals, the ACLU and the atheists who pushed and pushes the ACLU as well as the Masons support for removing prayers in school and removing God from our institutions.
Ever since they removed prayers from school, children lost their sense of morality. So many young girls have gone pregnant, so many killings in school either by guns or knives, and a lot of the children do not know anymore what is right from wrong. They could be good in the use of computers but on their morality and ethics, it is at the point of zip.

Every generation has its holier-than-thou groups who wail and cry about the degeneration of their culture. That is what motivates the Islamic terrorists. They kill to restore morality. Fundamental Christians would do the same if they could, and they will if they succeed in rewriting the US Constitution.
Falwell and Robertson both said that 9/11 was the act of a pi.sed-off Christian God. In fact, they and their kind want to see pain, suffering, and death of those who do believe exactly as they do.
On the contrary, societies are more corrupt, wicked, evil, and degenerate precisely to the degree that they are more religious.

With so many people from so many different cultures blending together in this " melting pot" there is no actual "American culture". There is unfortunately no turning back at this point. We have turned a corner and gone "'round the bend" so to speak. Drugs, guns, sex, terror, all go hand in hand. Morality you say? Take what you can my friend and pray for your children.

I think we are in a bit of trouble. I wish that more families had a parent who was able to be at home with their children. I wish that the 40s and 50s family morals would have stayed in place. I know I would have turned out differently.

Too much focus on the superficial. Too great a lack of education. All helps Conservatives to control a dumbed down public who have not developed critical faculties to assess the problems that face them.

I'd like to say first well how the hell are you god. what you are doing is telling us something that has been here since the beginning of time. every country in this world has the same problems. so in order for you to have it your way die and repent first then step through the golden gate. or the other direction. this isnt something that was just started , like i said its been here since the beginning of time.

America is the greatest civilization ever produced by mankind. Despite our problems, we are still pinnacle of human achievement in terms of culture, prosperity and military power. So stop being so pessimistic and look on the bright side.

I like the American culture.
But many people have to learn to coexist with other cultures, and those who are different. It is sad, and a waste of opportunities, to disregard the richness of diversity we have in the USA
