Have never served in the military? I just got to thinking about this when I saw a post asking "Why are the Marines doing a better job in Iraq." And then you have all people who watch the tv and chime in with their opinions etc. But you never catch anyone who is serving in the military in Iraq saying that I am better than the Marines, or the Army is better than this, or that the Air Force is a bunch of this or that. I think that all of us who serve in the military take pride in our individual services, and at the same time love our brothers and sister services. For everyone who has an opinion about who is better than who, I would highly suggest that you go and join whatever service you think is the best and help us all out.

i don't know personally because i am not in the military but my hubby is and as i type this he is serving in Iraq right along side of Marines and i have never heard him talk about them like they are better. i know guys that were and some still are in the Marines, Air force, Navy and my hubby is in the Army. as far as we are concerned everyone is doing what they can to support their family's and make our life better than it was for them when they were growing up. and anyone that thinks they are better just because they are in a different branch obviously have never served in any branch then the one they are in so they really have no room to talk.

You know I hate that also. I was a AF daughter and now I'm an AF wife. When people say the AF isn't really a part of the war I always say that without the Air Force (my husband specifically) how would the marines and army get flown over where they are supposed to jump. With out the Army how is the AF protected while in Iraq. I'm not too sure about the Navy--but I'm sure they do something great too.
The thing about the military is that we are a family--no matter what branch you are serving in we are family. All the branches of the military go hand in hand supporting each other on their missions, tasks, and duties.

There is always going to be Intra-Service rivalry. There are some things that, by virtue of the equipment and training, one branch will be able to do better than another. But the smart service member knows the capabilities of their branch and how it meshes with the other branches.
Yes, there are some that think that watching TV or movies makes them experts. But then, you know what is said about opinions...

That is true
The only person that I tell that the Air Force is not a real branch of service is my little brother who made a big mistake and went to the USAF Academy because he doesn't know any better yet.
I served with several airmen in Kirkuk.

Yeah.. what he said! lol. I'm married to a Marine and I'll never know what it's like to really be a Marine or what it's like in Iraq but some people are so ignorant and ask the dumbest questions. Some people act like it's a contest over in Iraq or something, like you said, "the Marines are doing a better job.." Better job at what? ...

Great idea, I get so tired of all of the people in general who sit back and criticize yet never make a constructive comment and do not actively participate in any way.
My son is in the Navy, I was in the Army, my step-son Air Force. We only make comments about the different branches in jest. Each branch serves a function and they all do it well.

I honestly have been waiting for a post like this for a while now. I am in the Air Force and you are right, we don't go around saying we are better than the other branches. Sure we may joke around about them, just like they do about us. When it comes down to it though, we are just as proud to serve with them as they are to serve with us.

You are correct. The different branches of the military have friendly rivalries, but when their lives are on the line, they know they can depend on each other, and any serviceman worth his bread and butter will fight to the death side by side with any other service member, regardless of which branch they signed up with.

I agree with you and when you are in the US Military, there is no such thing as which branch is better because we all work together in order to complete our mission.
US ARMY (RET) 21 years and damn proud of it.
