RELATIVE TO THEIR WEALTH they are one of the stingiest in the developed world:

(OECD figures but the above link puts it more lucidly)

If you add private contributions they only move up to 15th in the list.

Should a millionaire give the same to charity as someone living under a bridge?

Conservatives are supposed to carry these ideals:
Balancing the budget, small govt, limited govt, moral values...
Correct?

But the incumbent Reagan-inspired Neoconservatives have impulsively done this:
$8.5 trillion debt, big business-supported government, new controversial laws being passed all the time because of "national security" that increases the power of the govt to the point beyond extremity, and misleading the American public about the war without reluctance.

It's a shame that some people do not realize how Bush does NOT represent them at all. Bush betrayed conservatism. It's sad but true. This, ladies and gentlemen, is called NEOconservatism. Be a good conservative. Please don't support the neoconservative.

To all pro-Bush conservatives, please explain how Bush displays conventional conservative values. Are there any ways in which he does? And by this I mean domestic and foreign policies.

It's all propaganda with them, evertime Bush, Rumsfeld, and other White House staff comes on it's always about "terrorism". They say that 'we need to protect our people'. But are they really "protecting" us by going and invading another country and killing their civilians? Also, from the standpoint of Iraqi's, aren't they being invaded? We are told that the U.S. is defending Iraq? But aren't they "attacking" Iraq?

they also said that wealthy individuals are paying about the same rate in taxes as those in the middle class... since the majority of their wealth comes from investments, and the taxes have been drastically cut on investments by Bush...

Buffett said that he felt that the wealthy had a greater responsibility, due to their power and success, to pay taxes and should pay higher taxes... but aren't...

why do these two men who are highly successful in capitolism, not like the Bush tax cuts and want higher taxes on the wealthy?

it was at a forum at the university of nebraska...

do they not know what they are talking about?

I live in a small community where the local paper only comes out twice a week. About a month ago a friend of mine became ill in a local pub. She is 23 and was with her mother who is 44. The 23 yr old was in a near fatal car accident almost a year ago and takes a lot of medication. That particular night she quit breathing and here mom gave her mouth to mouth and a life squad was called. In yesterdays paper the following was printed: "Possession of Drugs. Jane Doe of Elm St. was found to be under the influence of alcohol and cocaine after a medical emergency". This was printed along with 6 other little snippets like....John Smith was cited for possession of drugs after marijuana was found in his car" ....etc....typical small town stuff. Anyway, this friend of mine has not been charged with anything but yet the paper gives the indication that she has been charged with Possession of Drugs.

i went to New Orleans last friday. You could just smell sadness everywhere. Everybodys house was torn and they were lucky if they even had a piece of theyre roof left. It was sooo sad i felt like crying. Those people now live in little trailers with kind of a kitchen, and 1 very small room. thats it! and the roof was missing and there was no windows!!!!!!! the goverment is responsble for all of this!!!!!!!! we should not treat our fellow citizens like this! what do you have to say about ourgoverment?
