Chirac calls for threat of Iran sanctions to be lifted

The concession to Iran seems to be linked to events in Lebanon, where there had been concern that French soldiers may be targeted by Iran's proxy militia, Hizbollah, over France's previously hardline stance in the nuclear negotiations.

Tell me what you think. I think that it is infringment on a smoker's rights to ban smoking in public places. If a restaurant or bar wants to be smoke free, that should be the business owner's decision. Tupelo, MS recently passed a ban that goes into effect in October. Not only can you not smoke in a public building, but you cannot smoke within 25 feet of the front door, or 10 feet of the back door. Thus, you cannot walk down the street and smoke. As a smoker, this irritates me. As a member of a "free and democratic society", this infuriates me. Last time I checked, tobacco was a legal substance. What about all those irritating people who wear enough perfume to choke a dead horse? Betcha they won't ban them from firing up my allergies!!!!

They always try to appease their enemy.
They always give land to their enemy, and what they get in return? Their own spilled blood.
They are suicidal when blinded by the idea of peace.
They would rather destroy beautiful green Jewish settlements in hopes for peace then face the truth.
They have their enemy in their Parliament, cheering after every murder of Israeli Jew, siding with Hamas, telling Hamas to keep kidnapping soldiers. And these Parliament representatives are still there, and functioning...

I don't understand their behavior.
Looks to me like they are dumb.
Looks to me like it is not going to be pretty for them if they don’t get their sh*t together.

It has been proven in several published texts that the big Dubya repeatedly lied to both the American public and Congress about his reasons for going to War with Iraq. This is a breach of the US constitution and leaves him liable for being tried for impeachment. Why is this not happening. As a British citizen I would like some opinions on this please?

Nobody even disputes this anymore. Except a blind few that cannot think critically. Official reports have shown a long time ago that weapons of mass destruction did not exist right before the invasion of Iraq. PBS Frontline ran a show on this specific subject. A very good show. Cheney put massive pressure on the CIA to create false reports. This is a fact. Not opinion.

I've heard rumors that Iran has nuclear weapons hidden in major cities in the United States, and that if we go to war with them they're going to start setting them off. Do you think there's any truth to this or do you think they're bluffing so that we won't mess with them?

I believe it was a Washington Post article that reached our Florida newspaper. It was printed the weekend of 9/11. I believe it was titled someting like, "Fear terrorists? No. Fear drivers!" The odds of someone dying in a car accident in their lifetime was something like 1 in 60. And the odds of dying while crossing the road in their lifetime was something like 1 in 300. And the odds of getting struck by lightning was well over 1 in many million. And the odds of dying because the earth was hit by a meteor was astronomical. And the odds of a person actually dying in a terrorist attack (assuming a mall was bombed every weekend) was even less than getting hit by lightning. Why do people panic so severely over something that is almost a mathematical impossibility?
