Nobody even disputes this anymore. Except a blind few that cannot think critically. Official reports have shown a long time ago that weapons of mass destruction did not exist right before the invasion of Iraq. PBS Frontline ran a show on this specific subject. A very good show. Cheney put massive pressure on the CIA to create false reports. This is a fact. Not opinion.

Should be read as : Can you believe that there are actually folks out there that still BELIEVE that WMD's existed right before the invasion?

No weapons of mass destruction were ever found.

Yeah - lots of people believe that. They are probably the same people who believe that Iran has nukes. They probably also believe that 9/11 was done by Arab Hijackers.
These people are so gullible, and so incapable of researching and thinking for themselves that they would do the world a great favour by forgetting to vote.

Why you believe what you believe

Experts on the human mind say that humans are convinced to believe things for four principal reasons:

1. You tend to believe most strongly that which you hear first.

2. If you change, it will most likely be to that which you hear repeated many times.

3. You next tend to believe that which you want to believe or that which fits your already conceived ideas or notions.

4. Lastly, humans are least likely to believe that which is logical and makes sense, especially if it contradicts what they hear most!

Interesting, isn’t it? Since the truth serves no one’s purpose and is seldom repeated, most people are left believing only that which serves someone’s purpose. By definition, that means they are left believing a lie. Unless you understand this and guard against it, you will be endlessly confused for most of your life.

They believe because it's a mind set that wouldn't change if you put all the evidence right in their faces. They want to believe it, like children and Santa Claus.
There will be people denying it in the answers to your question.
The Downing Street minutes, months before our invasion of Iraq, state very plainly that Bush wanted an excuse to invade Iraq.
One being that "they needed a staged approach, building up international support for invading Iraq, then give Saddam an ultimatum that would help justify an invasion".

The British Foreign Secretary wanted to speak with Colin Powell, because Bush was adamant about starting a war with Iraq. Bush didn't have enough evidence to start an action but he was determined to do it . He was told that Saddam had little or no WMD power, and that other countries in Mid-East had more. He (Bush) felt that with enough build up, he could justify an invasion, they just had to build up public opinion against Saddam, WMD or "Humanitarian " reasons to invade!

The "Mustard Gas" was from the Gulf war and had degraded to the point of being 'hazardous waste' , . No more than we have in the US when an Ammonia filled tanker or a chemical spill that happens Stateside and are cleaned up by trained HSMAT teams.

I believe that God had to get us there someway! And the focus has changed because Hussein was and is a tyrant dictator.. He was trying to wipe out a race of people.... Does that sound familiar? I find it fascinating that we see more of the negative aspects then the positive and don't take into consideration that there are those who appreciate what we are doing there!

People cry for peace but peace doesn't come easy! Weeding has to be done so that change can take place. If they didn't have MWD I believe that was to come in the future.. Now that the focus is more clearly on terror and bringing peace to the future generations lets find some nobility in that...Otherwise we would suffer greater things in the future....

We have thought for so long we are invincible and 911 was just an eye opener to let us know that times have changed and that we weren't as together as it seemed...Part of this I believe is the decline in integrity...Look at some of our elected leaders and all of the shortcomings....Seems to me we have become more focused on that thing men and women have between their legs then what has any real meaning! Like freedom, peace and prosperity...Not greed!

Face it we can't sit on our hands any longer and continue to be lazy... Terror has been around for a long time and just because one man has a vision that alot of people can't understand doesn't give us the right to slander or stay focused on an old topic! They will strike here again but now we will be better equiped to fight . We have been hated by the extremists forever it's a good against evil issue...Which one will you choose? This is going to be a long hall but in the end will be worth it for our future !

WASHINGTON — The United States has found 500 chemical weapons in Iraq since 2003, and more weapons of mass destruction are likely to be uncovered, two Republican lawmakers said Wednesday.

"We have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons," Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said in a quickly called press conference late Wednesday afternoon.

Reading from a declassified portion of a report by the National Ground Intelligence Center, a Defense Department intelligence unit, Santorum said: "Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq's pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist."

He added that the report warns about the hazards that the chemical weapons could still pose to coalition troops in Iraq.

Sure, there are folks who belong to the Flat Earth Society, who believe in the tooth fairy and The Shrub now in the White House. Why not believe the baloney now being spread re WMD.

Members of Congress depend on the CIA and the administration to tell the truth. They have no means for finding out on their own. In the past these parts of the Admin generally told the truth, but there were exceptions. The War in Viet Nam was started over a false report of an attack on the US Navy, it never happened. Almost 60,000 lives later we got out with nothing to show for it. Those people lost their lives for nothing.

Fox "News" is nothing more than the mouthpiece of the Neo-Cons and the White House. Reminds me of the Nazis and Herr Goebbels who perfected the system. Now copied by Fox and the others of their ilk

Please define what a WMD (or Weapon of Mass Destruction) is?

Do a little more research and you'll find out about a couple of stories where some chemical and biological weapons WERE found.

Whether they existed BEFORE or AFTER we invaded doesn't even matter. Saddam Hussein is out of power. Go do some research on him and then tell me why we shouldn't have went to war.

That is not completely accurate. They did find old munitions of WMD that dated back to the Gulf War. But there were no newer WMD's right before the invasion in 2003.

Nonetheless, the world changed after 9/11 and we needed to be proactive and taking out Saddam was party of that strategy.
