Exactly. Saddam killed thousands of Kurdish people using chemical weapons. Saddam is on trial for the use of weapons of mass destruction against his own people, Iraqi Kurds. "Chemical Ali", his cousin, is also on trial for genocide, involving the use of WMD against Iraqi citizens. WMD did exist in Iraq, there is good evidence by eye-witnesses.

so that the oil from iraq can be transported to us of a more conveniently.

I have read all the other posts.
Yes Saddam killed millions - I doubt millions but lets say millions of people.
But these people were not killing each other so vehemently as they are doing now.
Iraqi's lived more peacefully before the entry of us of a.
Saddam was evil for many people but he could only be toppled by his own people to result in any peaceful situation.
us of a knew that.
They also knew very well that controlling Iraq and its tribes with us military will be impossible. Yes absolutely they knew that. You have yale, harvard, mit, ucla, cia, fbi - all these not for nothing. I have faith in your educational system to understand ME that well.
USA do not have ambassaders in every middle eastern country for nothing.

Still the greed and hunger for power and fame to go in history books and most importantly the after math of 9/11 triggered the operation. I can understand the furor after the 9/11.
But now to step back from there has become even more difficult for the Supreme Commander in Chief of Planet Earth.

If Saddam was so bad for his people, could he survive till now?
It amazes me why people simply cannot do their maths? You can ignore the facts but they will not go away just by ignoring.
Not a day passes by without casualities for iraqi's and americans alike.

Just to save face? or to tap the oil. You decide.
Actually I do not care about Saddam - the hell with him Hang him for that matter. Just bring peace - somehow.

CAN IT NOT BE DONE?

There is plentiful solid evidence that he committed genocide against the Kurdish people who live in the northwestern area of Iraq. Evidently, he used up any WMDs he might have had on hand, and to kill a couple hundred thousand people, that would just about do it.

Dont worry too much about Saddam. He killed more than 2 million people. His own muslim people. Where were the religious fools that time? It was necessarry that he should be brought down. There are 194 countries in this world , thus 194 supreme leaders , not more than 5 or 10 leaders protested against it. None of the muslim political leaders in middle east opposed getting saddam down becuase no matter christian or muslim or buddist or aethist , polictical leaders responsible for the security of their country knows saddam is not a nice man. Dont spend time on him. Pay 10 pounds and try to get a hand job . he he he he

Because he killed many of his own people. Have you not been following? Halajba for instance where he used poison gas to kill loads of Iraqi Kurds? Or don't you remember the pictures of the people of Iraq digging at vast mass graves with their bare hands to find their friends and family members in amongst all the corpses that Saddam Hussein had had killed?

If gassing Kurds is a crime then Winston Churchill is also a criminal.

When he was doing it to the iranians, it was with material suppled by the UK and US. When he did it to the Kurds, the official US/UK position was that it was an internal matter.

Theoretically, since the invasion was illegal (according to the UN), then he is still the president and cannot be tried by the foreign occupation.

PS. I believe that none should be gassed... not even your worst enemy.
