I read the book by Steve Hodel about a year ago and was wondering what other people thought of it. The evidence in favor of George Hodel was pretty compelling and although it wasn't quite the smoking gun I was expecting, I am farily convinced that he was the killer. What are your thoughts?

I hate to admit it, but I usually pay attention to the federal, and to some extent the state legislative races, but not to the 'trivial' city council and board of supervisor races. This year I am going to take the time to research where people stand in the local races. From Maywood's prohibition of traffic tickets so's not to catch illegals, to Hazelton's strict anti-illegal immigrant laws, I have learned that the LOCAL politicians are very important.

Cook County IL, (including Chicago) is about to vote on being a sanctuary city, and the proponants of that motion think it will pass easily. I used to live there, and I'm telling you, people relied on Daly and didn't pay much attention to anything else.

Will you pay attention to local elections in voting, now? And has the illegal immigration issue made a difference to you in this?

They gave up in wold war 2, and left England to defend Europe and resist the Nazis until the US came into the war.
They are currently the rout of most troubles in the world, because of there greed and the fact they are not a power(little man syndrome)

the nest president be a bonifide vet? As a Nam Vet & the father of 2 vets of the Iraq war, I find it disgusting that Bush who was officially in the AIr Guard but didn't serve can place our kids in harms way against an emeny (Iraq) that never attacked us, ( his buddies the Saudi's did, ie. the skyjackers, Ben Ladden) just because he wanted us to believe that Hussien, (elected president of Iraq) had wmds. Our best bet elect a vet

"if you don't have anything to hide, what's the problem?" when speaking about warrantless searches or warrantless wiretapping? My problem is that many Americans don't want their privacy invaded, if bypassing acquiring a warrant, then what evidence or proof is there to link you with any crime? If they do have evidence and proof, then a warrant would be granted.

Would someone please explain to the Conservatives who complain about Clinton tapping into phones, why it is different when Bush did it? I'm getting kind of tired of trying to do so.
Why was it okay for Clinton and not okay for W?

I know, this question may have been better posted in the philosophy section but I wanted more of a political perspective. Feel free to cite examples such as the current criminal Bush administrations eerie similarities to the utilization of mass hysteria/crowd psychology as seen during the rise of Nazi Germany, thanks.

Also on Friday, US military officials said insurgents have killed seven US servicemen and wounded dozens more in the past 24 hours across Iraq.

So far in September, 36 US soldiers have been killed,

It looks as if the USA will lose Iraq. The new Iraqi Government is going down in defeat.

A friend of mine is sitting in jail due to alleged probation violation. When she was arrested in 2004 for no insurance, she was given a 750 dollar fine and 12 months probation. She paid the fine and worked out a deal with the PO that she would only have to call every other week. He even chased her down for $1.50 that he said she didn't pay. She paid it anyway and went along. Well she has since been arrested and the PO is now saying that she had 40 hours of community service that she never did and 51 days left on probation. She had never heard from him after she got off probation and sent him his $1.50 and she has never moved so she is still at the same phone number. When she got off probation last year, she asked the PO for paperwork and he refused to give her any so she just let it go. Any advise??

When you read that the police chief has issued a press release what does that mean? Did he offer the info to the news? Did the reporter approach him? Was this "big" news? Would the story report a press release just because the police chief agreed to answer the reporter's questions? Is the police chief just trying to get his side of the story out to the public first?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have just had a row with my partner who is adamant that good always wins in the end.
This started with a normal discussion with friends about the general state of the world and the evil things that are going on,I say thing will always be like this but she insists that I am wrong, but am I.
This is not necessarily about war and I am not looking for idiots to blame the americans/Israelis or anyone personally.

i was experiencing a hypo at time i didnt recognise symptoms was stopped by police and gave a high reading although i hadnt consumed enough to warrant it. i obviously appeared drunk to police by the very nature of hypos had severe problems blowing in bag due to confusion. i was put in a cell and subsequent reading 1-2 hrs later was slightly higher rather than lower as would be the case with non-diabetics. i told them later i was diabetic and was given a biscuit and then hours later coffee with sugar . i was not offered a blood test .

Just curious, because it seems like more and more, the American public (in the general sense) is becomming increasingly religious and non-tolerant of anyone who is of a different race, religion, sexual orienation, etc. Is this an accurate depiction, or is it just that the right wingers are far more vocal?

I'm not saying you're right or wrong in your opinions, just trying to see what the feeling of the general public is.

Any non-Americans feel free to weigh in with your thoughts as well, maybe it's just me.
