The monarchy is just a figure head.

The British Royal family bring in Millions of Pounds from tourists who love all the pomp and pageant.

The Royal family have no power over the Government so pose no risk to the Nation, so why should we get rid of this piece of tradition that makes money and people like?

Rule Britannia!!!!!

If you mean do agree with what the queen, prince Charles and all the hanger on say. Then No. If on the other hand do I agree with the Idea that the aristocracy knows whats Good for me. Then No. If you mean that the monarchy should get dole money at preferential rates which exceeds that rate given to other unemployed. Then No. If you mean as constitutional Monarchy that has no power and is just Head of State in name. Then No. if you mean as a Tourist attraction then Yes. Although we would get a better return by putting then in the Tower and charging visitors for a peek. The rest of the Royal palaces would not crumble if they were evicted and think of the fun you could get from tomato ketchup stains " and this is where the young prince Harry was slammed into the wall when he was served with an ABSO."

Firstly, the Monarchy rules the entire UK, not just England.

To say it doesn't have any power is not quite true. Apart from Mrs Blair, I don't know anyone but the Queen who has a weekly audience with the PM. They may not have power, per se, but they do have influence.

The Queen is the richest woman in the world. This is a fact. Yet the British taxpayer still pays for her and her closest family. Why?

As for tourism, I don't buy that. How many tourists come to see the Royal Family in person? If the monarchy was taken apart tomorrow, they could still go to all the palaces and see the crown jewels. It wouldn't put off one tourist.

Just one more thing, the monarcy is the culmination of our class system. This system continues to oppress the citizens (oops, i mean subjects) of our country.

It simply doesn't add up and the quicker we get rid of this awful, out-dated instition the better.

I am from England and I totally agree with having our monarchy. Would you like to swap Bush and come back to the British Royal family?
seriously - I think it stops a Government getting to powerful still and give the people a focus when things seem to go wrong.
We tried life without a monarch under Cromwell but didn't like it.

It represents centuries of tradition. English history can only be read in terms of the Monarchy. I like it as long as it doesn't get to close to me. (I live in New Zealand)

The Royal Family is a symbol of our country. Like, but much more so than, the flag.

You cannot be patriotic and disagree with them.

Anyway, they bring much more money in than they take, and to get rid of them would involve a complete overhaul of our governance system. At the moment that system works bloody well, and I don't trust the government to change anything of it without using as an excuse to change yet more things and screw everything up.

I think most of us look at the politicians of the world, and are thankful that we don't have another pointless politician. At least the monarchy don't get any actual power.

'English' people do. The Monarchy upholds the traditions that are the very roots of our so-called Englishness
No Englishman would ever be a traitor to the crown.
Now the Brits....!
