_______________September_______________________
Today is the first day of September. That means fall is rapidly approaching. I love fall but I despise what comes after it. Winter, the season of death. How I hate it. All living things seem to die. Everything halts. Life comes to a standstill for a time. I can never seem to get warm enough.

I am also a recently published poetry author.
. I play two musical instruments the harmonica and the banjo. I write poetry and short stories, as well as diatribes.

a quote from president George Bush
"As for Iraq, he said Saddam's regime, while lacking weapons of mass destruction, was a threat that posed "a risk the world could not afford to take.""

Please show me some evidence that this man was ever a threat to the world!

I could spend this entire page explaining the history of other reasons they have to hate us but I am going to keep this simple.

Even if you are pro-Bush, pro-war and don't like democrats, still... do you believe this?... could someone explain to me why they believe this?

Everytime I hear that statement, it just baffles me... seeming utterly ridiculous.

Is it just a propaganda statement?

Is it just a soundbite?

Is it lack of a better reason?

I mean seriously... were the terrorists sitting around one day saying, "... I hate those FREE ppl... let's go kill them because they are FREE...' ?

When you think about it, the terrorists are free in a sense that they don't answer to anyone. They live hidden lives I guess but overall they don't pay taxes, etc...

Just thinking...

Best answer will be given to any person explaining the rationale even if I don't agree and no matter what your politics are.

"I am not immigrant. I am white".

Hello, there are over a MILLION Europeans on expired visas. It's not just Mexicans, hello! There are millions of Americans of color who were born here but are from Latino or African ancestry.
When are you going to stop calling every Mexican illegal and every white-legal?
Just so you know, I am one of those Europeans on expired visa, working hard and paying taxes with no chance to become a legal resident. Can your laws get any more zenophobic?

the big long dump trucks with the long tongue pulling the trailers never go the speed limit here, I realize that their bosses are trying to get as much dirt or whatever hauled as possible in a days time, but my question is how do they get away with it? do they have a special law that us normal people don't?...they also hog the inside lane, and i know for a fact that our state requires other truckers to stay in the outside lane unless passing, these guys in the tandem dumps just stay out there and consistently are 15-20 miles or more over the speed limit...Are cops told to just let them do their thing and not stop them???? i am in the seattle washington area...any traffic police care to respond????

Did you see that the Court refused to block Arizona's voter ID law?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060912/ap_o...

I think this is just common sense, that if federal law requires people to be citizens, states can require proof of that. However, it is a major case, all the same.

What do you think?

Additional Details

"A federal judge on Monday refused to block a law that requires Arizona voters to present identification before casting a ballot.

U.S. District Judge Roslyn Silver's order came a day before Tuesday's primary, the first statewide election for which voters will be required to show identification. The law has already been used in some municipal elections.

The 2004 law requires that voters at polling places produce government-issued picture ID or two pieces of other non-photo identification specified by the law. "

I accidentally posted this earlier in 'politics', but meant to post here.

I am going to change my major to Criminology in order to pursue what I've always wanted to do, and be a law enforcement officer (eventually I want to work in counterterrorism, but that's a different thing altogether). My question is, if you're a cop, what's the most rewarding aspect of your job? What about the worst part? Is the money worth the job you do? Any advice or insight would be lovely. :-)

Many theories say that Bin Laden did it, and many theories say that it was an inside job made by the US government to attack the Middle East.
I will not elaborate on any and I will not say my opinion... just asking, have your thoughts changed along? You thought someone did at first then now believe someone else did it? Or you still believe it's Bin Laden? Or you never believed it was Bin Laden? Or it's Bin Laden with orders from somebody else who wants to frame the Arabs? Or what did you believe, and what do you believe now?

Legally, yes it's wrong. But is it morally wrong? A college student hooking up with a professor I don't see as being wrong, they're both consenting adults, why not? So why would it be wrong for a recruiter to hook up with a recruit?

Aren't oral contracts binding? Is he legally obliged to pay me? I guess an oral contract would be a terribly difficult thing to prove, wouldn't it. It's just so frustrating. I had a previous bet with him that I paid.. now I win one (over two years ago now) and he still refuses to pay simply because he's not out of the area and I can't easily catch up with him in person.
