He has to have proof that the child is in his custody. I guess that's what he means when he says getting it straightened out. Anyone can say their child is living with them, but in the military you need hard evidence...paperwork. It's just the way the government is.

He needs to have proof in writing he has custody. He needs something from the COURTS, not just a signed paper from his ex-wife or someone else....

As for Housing.....he has to prove Custody. Then he has to get on a Waiting List just like everyone else. If he is that gung-ho about getting Quarters, he has the option of doing Private Rental. The Sr Enlisted have that option, where the Lower at times don't...even though, there is a new Reg out that states anyone can live Private Rental....but those are hard to come by for the Lower to afford....*long story...but I have seen it happen to those in my DH's Unit*.....

His first priority is to get the Proof of Custody then to get with Housing...oh, he will also need to have the child(ren) on his Orders as well in order to get Housing. If he is Overseas, he will have to get them Command Sponsored.

It all depends. If they aren't in different housing areas usually lower gets priority due to the financial differences.

But there might have been more people on the waiting list ahead of him that are either returning from korea and/or deployed.

Are you sure he's denied - or is he being told not yet?

Has he proven that he has custody? Although I do know some that were given houses even with joint custody
