Which Lebanon?

Downtown Beirut? Greater Syria? Hezbollahstan? Druzistan? Marounistan?

Lebanon is a make-believe country. It's pointless and self-defeating to get all nationalistic about a country that:
a. Doesn't really exist
b. Has never really existed
c. Shouldn't exist

All of these factors stem from the fact that Lebanon is an utterly artificial, colonial construction that is not in accordance with any of the natural ethno-cultural boundaries of it's region. This is also why the entity called "Lebanon" has never been strong enough to control the behaviour of it's internal nations. None of the large groups within it are loyal to it.

Why would they be? They already had cultural identities (Druze, Maronite, Shiite, etc) when the colonialists foisted this abortion of a state on them.....

I think that Israel should have continued to pound the crap out of Hezbollah until they gave up. The Lebanese civilians shouldn' have allowed Hezbollah to operate, and Lebanon should have secured its Southern border. Israel warned the civilians to leave, but they didn't. What more can they do?

My biggest issue with the way the war was handled is the strategy involved. Israel relied too heavily on airpower. They should have sent in ground forces sooner and in heavier numbers. They also shouldn't have signed the cease fire that allowed UNIFIL to stay in Lebanon.

Israel should have attacked targets in Syria and possibly Iran. They were as much to blame as Hezbollah.

The people of Lebanon are being used as pawns of Islamic terrorists. While I feel that at times the Israeli government goes too far, I know with no allies close by, she does what she has to for survival. Why can't the Arab world accept the fact that Jews belong in this world and Israel is their home.

What war??? Lebanon was host to Hezbollah terrorists and paid for it. To bad so sad...

And the "war" should not be finished until Hezbollah is completely annihilated.

Have we all forgotten that these schmoes killed over 200 US Marines...???

Hate Israel all you want...but I would like to think that we would hate the killers of 200+ of our brother Americans even more.

Am I the only person who wants payback!?!

the destiny is the loser for this conflict has failed and destiny seems gloomy. A conflict will damage out interior of 20 years of the withdrawal of Israel forces between a minimum of Israel and Lebanon. I prophecize that.

The Zionists are proud of their massacre of Lebanese and strangulation of the Palestinians in Gaza.

May God instill peace in their souls and bring those to justice who have sinned against humanity.
