EL PASO, Texas — A man accused of having a role in the killings of at least eight women in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, has not been charged with a crime in that country and will remain in the United States until he is deported or an arrest warrant is issued, a U.S. immigration official said Tuesday.
Edgar Alvarez Cruz, a Mexican construction worker, was arrested in Denver last week on an unrelated immigration charge and brought to El Paso in anticipation of being turned over to Mexican authorities.

But until an arrest warrant is issued or an immigration judge orders Cruz to leave the country he will remain in U.S. custody, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Leticia Zamarripa said.

Cruz is scheduled to appear at a deportation hearing next month.

Mexican prosecutors in the state of Chihuahua, where Juarez is located, said Tuesday that the investigation is ongoing and Cruz and a Mexican man detained in Virginia remain suspects in the unsolved string of killings. Prosecutors declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.

Jose Francisco Granados de la Paz, the man arrested in Virginia, has not been brought to the El Paso jail and Zamarripa said she did not know where he was being held or by whom.

Tony Garza, U.S. ambassador to Mexico, has called Cruz’s arrest "a major break" in the killings of more than 100 young woman in Juarez, across the Rio Grande from El Paso, between 1993 and 2001.

Border security activists are clashing with pro-amnesty groups
in several cities nationwide. Over the weekend, pro-illegal
alien groups raised a Mexican flag over a U.S. Post Office in
Maywood, California and allegedly beat up a woman protesting
the city’s illegal alien sanctuary policies. Protesters are

proposals to prohibiting illegal aliens from renting housing

I mean don't you think we would all be so much more accomplished if we looked out for our neighbor as much as we looked out for ourselves? I was watching something on t.v. last night with my husband about hurricane Katrina and I was so devastated all over again about it. I just wish that we didn't have to rely on a government that is just as imperfect as we are. I know we all want a perfect world and response team, but if we were just a little more self sufficient ourselves, then don't you think things like this wouldn't be as bad as they are?

It's not right or wrong, it's just my opinion on a thought I had...

I thought Bill Clinton got a law passed that allowed people to only be on welfare for 2 years. That would stop a lot of those having more children just to keep getting a check. Whatever happened with that? Was it not passed? I know people who have been on longer than that.

These two folks keep making posts suggesting that global warming is a vast liberal conspiracy. But their own leader, George W. Bush, agrees with Al Gore that global warming is real and is affected by human behavior. Just see the links below - or do a search yourself on "Bush admits global warming" - there's thousands of articles

Are they calling Bush a liar?

Ok, I asked this question 10 minutes ago and since I phrase the title wrong (do people never read the additional details?) people just comment on weather it was true or not. That's not the point, the question is what would the fallout be?

Here's the original question:
won't go into a debate on weather or not 9/11 was a US planned attack as those who are against it, are vehemently against such an absurd idea and those who think it might be possible, raise a lot of very good questions.

But all that aside, what would be the result IF 9/11 was a US plot. After Afghanistan, after Iraq, if the truth came out, how will it hurt not just he administration but our country in terms of political influence, economy, retribution, repayment for the war etc? How do you think it will fall out?

The only reason why you have illegal immigrants is that you haven't prevented them from coming in- you could if you really wanted to. So, go to that website and watch that screen, and don't complain!
;) Mexicans are a great people, much more pleasant than the United Statesians, in general. And, obviously, it makes economic sense for them to sneak in to USA and clean some toilets and stuff there.
Just like it makes economic sense for prostitutes to migrate from Russia into Eastern Europe or Finland... Is it the hookers' fault? No! It's capitalism! :)
And, as for stealing your jobs- You mean, you are competing with them for those no-education jobs? Why don't you go back to school?
Demand that instead of rebuilding Iraq, why not rebuild Mexico? Or, better yet, skip the war with Iran and use that to promote jobs in Mexico. I'm sure they'd rather be with their friends and families.

My Political Theory Professor, Christine Barbour, who has co-authored several very prominant and distinguishable American politics textbooks and books, made a statement today that really made me think:
"Most Americans say that they live in one of the greatest democracies in the world. And the one right that they worship the most would be the right to vote. Yet, statistically, in 2000, the voting turnout was barely 50%, and the rate gets lower each year. "

She also said that compared to Europe, we as Americans are not active in politics at all.

So here's my question to you: Do you vote? If not, why not? Continuing, do you agree or disagree with the statement that Professor Barbour made?

For the record, I, like my professor, find it very ironic that so many Americans carry on and on about how the right to vote is so good, "compared to the Middle East". And yet, these same people say that they don't vote, and quickly change the subject.

Nice, non-religious answers, please.
