In simplest terms, Communism was created to promote a classless society. That is, a society where social and economic class or status doesn't exist and everyone has the same privileges. It also promotes common ownership of the means of production and the absence of private property.

The only truly viable Communist government is China. The rest have faded away.

Revolution of the workers against the elite and class system to bring about a utopian society.

Of course this is great on paper, but in reality it becomes a dictatorship of the few at the expense of the many. See the former USSR and eastern block as a good example of how to rape a society.

Society in which the government looks out for its people and provides for them. In an ideal communism, all people are equal. Communism is ideally a great form of government, but something always goes wrong because someone gets drunk on power.

Perhaps this - by Marx:
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program. The phrase incorporates the ideal that, under a communist system of government, every person shall produce to the best of their ability in accordance with their talent, and each person shall receive the fruits of this production in accordance with their need, irrespective of what they have produced.

It's a nice ideal; too bad they ignored human nature
