I thought Bill Clinton got a law passed that allowed people to only be on welfare for 2 years. That would stop a lot of those having more children just to keep getting a check. Whatever happened with that? Was it not passed? I know people who have been on longer than that.

The law is the Personal Responsibility Work Opportunity and Reconciliation Act which was enacted 10 years ago (Aug 1996)
The law put a lifetime limit of five years of cash assistance, although individual States could choose to limit cash assistance to a shorter period. There are exceptions, State may continue to provide cash assistance beyond 5 years if the adult has been subject to extreme cruelty, domestic violence, or the family has a severe hardship. States may also set up their own assistance programs, which don't qualify for Federal funds, to provide cash or other assistance to qualified individuals.

I would also comment that very few people have children so that they can get more welfare, since another child is another person to feed, house and clothe. The Federal welfare rules also require that recipients engage in some kind of work activity and not lounge around all day.

yes that is the law but it varies by state. Some states allow up to 3 years. Some people still believe that welfare people are on it forever

The law was passed and if you do a little bit of research you'd find many have gotten off welfare.
