With all the talk about manpower problems & a reluctance to use women in combat roles, I was thinking. The French has used the foreign legion concept to attract men from arround the world. Currently we have many immigrants who hope to earn citizen ship thru military service. With people trying every day to come here illegaly why not solve two problems at once?
A American Foreign Legion? A dedicated recruitment of foreign nationals on the French model. Cubans, mexicans Haitians, Chinese, Columbians, Nigerians, etc. All want to come here and get a green card. Skip the smugling & rafts to Florida. Sign up & we give you a citezenship in 2 years. Well??????

*Being a college/university graduate, specifically having majored in Political Science (with a concentration in International Affairs).
*Using topographic maps of the Earth's oceans.
*Securing large private investments.
*Hiring leading specialists in various fields of Earth Sciences, also a team of offshore construction workers.
*By chance/luck, finding a seamount or a semi-submerged reef (with the relocation of any rare sealife), or by buying an out-of-commissioned oil rig. Any of these within 'international waters'.
*Purchasing and obtaining the materials needed to build a small artifical island.
*Doing dredging operations somewhat similar to what occurred to Dubai's artifical resort islands and Hong Kong International Airport, within the last 15 years.
*Making the artifical island fit for building operations upon it, such as implementing a small permanent population.
*Finding a suitable and sustainable economy, such as aquafarming.
*Issuing currency
Etc.

I am sure we are left baffled over certain stupid laws. Do you think we have some screwed up lawmakers in our country or respective states? If so, list one and the reason you think it is a joke.

For instance I saw a sign in a supermarket saying that if you are under 21 and caught with cigarettes you could lose your driver's license. is the U.S. Government (or state governments) getting too high and mighty?

(PS I hate seeing kids smoke (suck) and I don't do it either.)

Be a citizen no ifs ands or buts. Is this true?Because I know there are people that would try to marry a citizen just to stay but he says that he wouldn't need to cuz he is guaranteed citizenship someday because of his green card.

There are too many people in America who hate American society, and I suppose that there's nothing to be helped about that so long as the First Amendment is still in effect (which is completley stupid since people who hate America shouldn't even adopt Freedom of Speech as their god-given right anyway). If America is seen by them as the ultimate scourge of human society, why do they keep living here instead of in a "better" country like Canada or Mexico? If you see a movie and end up hating it not halfway through it, you leave the theater and demand your money back. If you don't like the lame person your bf/gf has become, you pack up your bags, break off the relationship, and move in with your old roomate again. Why do people who hate America insist on staying in this vile, wretched place and do nothing but complain about how vile and wretched it is?

first of all he is married to an American citizen and has been for like 6 or 7 years. They have two kids together and Suddenly he says that they found out about how one time he used someone elses birth certifacate and ID to cross over to Mexico but he didn't make it. He was caught. Now I don't know when (but he says he's been fighting them a long time) He has a lawyer and is fighting them cause he says they are trying to deport him ever though (I think he is a citizen) Because of ahat he did like 8 years ago. Is this possible? He is married to an American citizen. I think he is pulling my leg and he really did something else that he is getting deported for.
