In the most recent effort by radical anti-immigration organizations and individuals to exploit mainstream immigration concerns, a three-day summit to "Unite to Fight Against Illegal Immigration" was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 27 – 29. More than 400 people gathered to hear speakers describe illegal immigrants as "the enemy within" and "illegal barbarians," while suggesting that America was "at war" with illegal immigrants and calling for the need to "take America back."

"These groups are hiding behind the mask of illegal immigration when their real concern is the growing Mexican-American population," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "While there are legitimate concerns for America regarding illegal immigration, the fact that border vigilantes, and in some instances racist and anti-Semitic hate groups, are exploiting these concerns to promote an anti-Hispanic agenda is very troubling.

With mounting public awareness and concern over illegal immigration in America, the issue is being co-opted and exploited by anti-immigration activists, some of whom are reaching out to racist and anti-Semitic hate groups, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The rhetoric of these activists is largely aimed at Mexicans, not other illegal aliens, and frequently does not distinguish between Mexicans and Mexican-Americans.

Only intelligent, educated Americans distinguish between the illegals and the Mexican Americans that, in fact, are the growing minority soon to the majority.

It must be a shock on this forum that a white, single, American like myself would be pro amnesty. I am on the side of logic and reason. Congress will act with the same intention. Securing the borders is a bigger priority than bashing Mexicans already here, legal or illegal.

the ADL is and always has been a sorry excuse for what racist quotes they try to make the Americans believe. to have the ADL support the Mexican immigrant is a joke. the only reason they do this is to stir up hatred among the whites and make them forget the Jewish issue. they don't give a rat s a s s about the immigration problem, all they want is smoke and mirrors.

Ok, I will be very honest, illegal immigration IS, after all, ILLEGAL. Now having said that, there does seem to be a hatred towards them, for whatever reason...accursed racists...but I would like to point out one thing about the whole issue. This issue, and any ther one for that matter, such as women's rights, gay marriage, etc., is created (in my opinion) to distract you from everything else that is going on in the country. We are always fighting something (notice how the only phrase we have in our country to show that we're against something is "a 'war' on something") and it keeps us distracted from the more important issues in life. But w/e, the media has mastered this technique and some people just don't realize that they CAN be controlled by others.

If the people are using hate they will not get very far with their agenda. even the anti-Illegal immigration people will not fall for the hate thing. I am against illegal immigration but I don't hate the Illegals that are here. I want them to go back to Mexico and get in line with the other Immigrants. and to turn in their paperwork to become legal Residents.

What the Hell are you talking about? We have people from all around the world. Anyone from anywhere can come to America if they follow our rules. If they do not, they should not only be deported, but punished as criminals, because they are breaking the law. If they come to our country and ignore and break the law upon entery, they have no respect for our system. As far as it being a racist issue, look at my picture, I am a mixture of 3 races, I'd feel the same if it were an illegal Russian, or German, or Englishmen. The law is the law, plain and simple. Does your question mean to imply these criminals should be allowed to be rewarded by citizenship?

ADL is not exactly unbiased on this issue.

However, you don't have to go to Las Vegas to hear anti-illegals say that we need to "take America back", it is on this board at least daily.

Yep. Like I have always said, racism against Mexican legal and illegal aliens. They also mentioned that they hide behind the usual rhetoric "I dont have a problem with immigrants just the illegal ones." Yeah right. Besides, that is completely why HR 4437 is not passing through , because it is just full of hatred and racism against Mexican immigrants. Therefore, trust me on this one, amnesty is just around the corner.

STOP HR 4437!!
