why would the government be intrested in regenerating the main causes of community decline???...and then why wouldnt it be??...seriously now, to answer your question, why do we always assume that its the governments responsibility to do so?? the first solution lies within the community itself...oh ya, i forgot, we're not supposed to assume any personal responsiblity for anything anymore- as long as there is someone else we can possible blame...so until the community is ready to say "we" have a problem here, and "we" need to find the answers to "our" problems, enjoy the slide....and if i say its just a continuing of the "dumbing down of america", u know where im coming from

I feel that one principal cause of decline is television becasue we don't talk to each other anymore and we all live such separate lives where we don't need to rely on each other. I only met all my neigbours when there was a power cut and everyone went outside to see if anyone had any power! One of the central themes in current US drama is that if you wnat to get your own way just stick a gun in someone's face - and the kids are catching on.
Another serious cause is that we now all know that our politicians are only interested in thier own power, lie through thier teeth and can and will spin anything at 45 mins notice, so it's pretty hypocritical to promote a respect agenda when you're dumping on everyone. Added to the decline of the power of most religions, with the exception of Islam, and we are left without a set of guiding principles that enable us to get along. Too much individual freedom and independence is bound to lead to social fragmentation. We've forgotten we need each other becasue we're so comfortable.

The causes of community decline is due to disfunctional upbringing, drugs, unemployment, lack of education, little money and racisim to name a few! The govt can only do so much in terms of granting education, and stimulating the economy. We must leave the rest up to individual choice. Let each and all create their own destiny.

The laws, rules and policies set that stifle cummunity decline. Removal of free social clubs, sports facilities, funding for OAP social activities, freedom of info (eg sex offenders' register), too much freedom for people who cause problems so that people fear interaction, stifling growth of people re education, support for the vulnerable - funding such things do not make money quick enough or have a short-term benefit (but do have long-term benefits). The only problem is, many people think that way, too.

Basicly, things that cannot be resolved quickly and cheaply are not addressed for the bigger picture.... Investment in the people.

It's up to us, the people, to make that difference, in our lives, for the people we interact with, and in our votes. Don't be blinded by how the world is "moulding us" and make that investment in ourselves. It only takes one of many to make it happen. Let's be part of the bigger picture.

The main cause of community decline is government interference with personal choice.

And most recent government efforts have been directed not at healing communities, but rather at trying to enforce specific sets of religious values on people, whether they want them or not, as a matter of law.

In other words, just making things worse they more the govt tries.
