The most influencal and weilding the most power.on earth.The way things are going the US will not have one true freind abroad.We are seeing the most selfish,uncaring President of all time.we would all miss Walt Disney World but not George W.

You are totally bang on mate. Most European and British people don't know what the EU is all about. The EU countries are fed up of playing second fiddle to a bunch of uncouth cowboys so they set up the competition. Our jet fighters are better than the American ones. We set up a better space agency than NASA. We got better satelites, cars, Aircraft carriers. The French got the best Nukes. And soon the world would kiss our rears. America can beg to join but we wont have them. We've got enough Starbucks, thanks.Enjoy

I lived in Europe for 10 years, we don't want any part of the EU.
It is made up of countries that have upwards of 50% tax rates.
Most of these countries have not recovered economically from the second world war.

I implore you to read about the history of Europe from the time of Prussia through to the end of the second world war and then read about the recovery from that terrible war. I highly recommend this particular book Behind Europe's Curtain by John Gunther. Is book clearly outlines the challenges that have lead to the Europe that exists now. I actually fully doubt EU's power.

In fact it is easier to slip in and out of countries in Europe without detection than it is in America and we have more civil liberties. I know I did. I also believe that if Eastern Europe decided to form a coalition and Sack Western Mainland Europe, Western Europe would flee into the English channel.

What power? Has the EU done ANYTHING to deal with terrorism over the last 50 years except give up their freedoms? What happened to the EU's economic clout?

Why would the yanks want to join the EU, when most of the member countries would like to get out, including Britain

I agree that America is losing friends, but joining the EU would require a surrender of national sovereignty that very few Americans would be prepared to accept. They don't even let their soldiers join UN peacekeeping missions, they certainly wouldn't allow EU law to supersede American law. It's even more far-fetched than the UK joining NAFTA.

Also the EU is on the verge of collapse, if things keep going this way the EU will no longer exist.
