I would have to say that due to our freedom from oppression, freedom from worry about foreign occupation, freedom to do what we want, freedom to live as we see fit, freedom... You get the point.
I have done some traveling around the US and the World. For the most part, everyone that I have met has the basic worries. They worry about their families, they worry about their health, and they worry about making a living, which pretty much relates to the first two worries. Many people in other countries have more to worry about than others, and for some reason they choose to worry about America.
Americans for the most part worry about the world. I bet you wouldn't be too hard pressed to find some organizations in the US that donates aide and supplies to the many natural disasters that occur around the world. Those organizations are funded by... Americans. Americans donate more money to different agencies and countries and causes the world over than some countries are worth. I'm not talking about what the US Government does, I mean people themselves on top of what our Government gives. The recent Earthquake in Pakistan comes to mind, as well as the Indian Ocean Tsunami in Dec 2004.
Militarily, people complain regardless of what the US does. The US didn't immediately get involved with the Israel/Hezbollah conflict, so we are the bad guy. Had we intervened, then we would be seen as meddlers in other countries' affairs. When a government asks for help and we help, people still complain.
Americans are not blind to world affairs, some are but it can be said of every country to had citizens that are blind to world affairs. Some are blinded by false media and do not really know what is going on. China and North Korea come to mind as people subjugated by their governments through information control.
Regardless of what is going on, people will form their own opinion, usually based on someone elses opinion that was force fed to them in a way to make it seem that it was an original thought.
The bigger question is: Why do you care what Americans think in the first place?

I think that alot of Americans are blind and stubborn when it comes to world affairs because some (and I don't mean all, so no one should be offended by this) believe that they are the only country in the world woth worrying about. Any other country they are focused on has some kind of direct correlation to the U.S., and in those cases they are only concerned about the tthings that affect them directly (for example, the war in Iraq, because they want cheaper oild prices and such). Their way is the right way, of course, and there is no telling them otherwise.
I have met many Americans who do not think this way, and regret to say that there are a few Americans out there who give the others a bad reputation(as with any other group of people).

Another generalizer. Hmm. We are not blind nor stubborn, but like you, we're opinionated. I believe we've made some drastic mistakes in the world, but I blame a few for the many who have and will suffer the consequences of these mistakes. In general, Americans are great people when you see us as individuals.

Why are you so full of crap? Im not blind or stubborn at all- just because we dont necessarily agree with everyone else all the time does not indicate that the US is blind or stubborn in its entirety. However, your question does show your true ignorance of US foreign policy. Being so reactionary just shows that you havent really got any clue as to what you are asking about.

The United States is a big country with so much going on that they don't seem to notice the outside world. The news shows mostly national news and the country is so far away from where the really interesting news is happening. The trick is to watch the BBC America News. They have great world news with a classy accent.

We are conditioned to be arrogant fools who know not any humility for our actions or our state of being.... Though it is not entirely the fault of the people it is largely our fault...
Our government has a tendency to 'educate' us a manner that makes our country look either really good or neutral to all causes.
Our educational standards specifically cater to an Americanized version of all things essential.
What we are taught in our schooling system or by our paid media is simply the edited or entirely re-written version of reality or history for the sake of the good times happy faces American way...
Ignorance is bliss... If Americans had any idea of how they truly influence the world as compared to what they're told by the people who don't experience it but are put on a political auction block to educate us on it the government would not find it simple to keep the people in check without the fear of an imminent uprising... Simply put the lack of knowledge priority and desire to learn keeps Americans in the dark about themselves, and since we are spoon fed the virtues of our 'great nation' from day one very few of us ever really go out to try and get educated... we instead adopt the flag wagging puppet syndrome and the 'Love it or leave it mentality' that I will most assuredly get after I submit this response...
that my friends is the predictability of a finely tuned pre-conditioned people.
Yes there are good things about America but they are exaggerated greatly by the American people because ignorance is bliss. We are content as long as we are uninformed

Perhaps we know more than you? We knew back in 1979 that Iran was going to be the catalyst in middle eastern wars. The US's occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq was for more reasons than just WMD's like the liberal media has been regurgitating for years. It's putting a squeeze on Iran. Just watch them squirm. If that makes you uncomfortable, then stick to comic books and leave foreign policy to the grown ups.

They are brainwashed by the main stream media. Or maybe the rest of the world is right and americans are just so stupid and lazy...they are too lazy to look up anything for themselves or research anything or ask questions or seek the answers to those questions...they would rather just be lazy and stop thinking and just do what the TV tells them.
I see my fellow americans get so upset when someone asks one of these why are americans so stupid questions...look at it this way....Either the majority of you are stupid as hell or your just plain evil bastards. How do you want it?

its not that we are blind though some are. Its that we dont care. The world wants to hate us no matter what we do. We have learned through experience the rest of the world are a bunch of ingrateful people. France PERFECT example, oh they hate americans but when we lots thousands of americans lives and american blood ran in rivers to free them from german oppression, we were great. We give money to those who hate us just in the hopes they will use it to not attack us but give their people a better life. We are sick of it. We want our country to quit helping those who dont appreciate it, we should help our allies and F everyone else just like the rest of the world. In a nutshell...even if we cared you'd just hate us in 10 years for being "stupid americans." Thats fine, but i assure you we aren't as stupid as you'd like to think we just dont care because whatever is happening to you in another country you most likely deserve it.
