we're in the process of trying to hire a lawyer, and each one is charging 100 bucks an hour. they charge for all the hours they had something to do with your case (including when they thought about your case a little driving home), or what? so then if you get slapped with a 2000 dollar bill on a really really simple case, they worked 20 hours on it? it's just an essay, basically, would it really take that long?

I have to go to court for a D.U.I in Tennessee. I have been told that I will have more than one court date. Like mine is Next Tuesday, but I evedently have to go back several more times. Is this true, and is there a way to speed it up? Its my first and LAST offense of any kind. So Im new to all this. I am moving to Wisconsin Aug 20th, thats why I need to know how many times I would have to have a court date. Thanks!

Like, why is it that many people that cops (this has been my experience when watching the show COPS) are about to either ravenously beat or arrest are smoking cigarettes at the time of arrest? Do cigarettes give you special powers to run faster...or ? (I am 'cornfused' about this matter).

Or, do cigarettes give you special dispensation from pain stimuli- such as tortuous beatings with, say, a Billy Stick?

No offense to all you smokers out there! I'm just getting off free-base, myself. : )

Today the top U.S. military commander in the Middle East has said Iraq could move towards civil war (1) and a leaked memo from Britain's top diplomat in Iraq has said civil war is the MOST LIKELY outcome (2).

Although Blair is a fool at least he urged more intensive planning for the aftermath of the Iraq war.

This is what I was wandering. La Raza and Mecha and all their believers claim that there is a land called Aztlan that, supposedly, belongs to Latinos. They have plans to take it back, I would like to know what means they are going to use to "take back their land"? I mean, are they going to wage a full on war with the U.S.? Seriously, there are Latinos out there who really think they are gonna have Aztlan some day. Just exactly how are you gonna get that land?

i wanted to know should i be putting this on applications when i apply for jobs, i was thinking since case was dismissed i wasnt really convicted, is there a difference between being arrested and being convicted? am i understanding the charge correctly. I attended anger management classes and the case was closed. is that a conviction? im kinda confused on wheater i put this on employment applications or not? i dont want to lie..please help

My dad says you can not keep a duel citizenship that you eventually have to choose. My cousin is u.s and her husband is french, they have one son and travel back and forth constantly. I said that the son has duel citizenship, am i right?

People are always clamoring about freedom of speech, but many private individuals do have a right to curtail your speech. E.g. a restaurant owner or home owner could ask you to leave because of offensive speech.

I worked at a big corporation and my boss "let me go". I know it's employment at will in California. I felt what was done to me was uncalled, inhumane, and unprofessional. So I wrote an email to the VP of the department what happened and to let him know how it can improve in the future, I did not ask for a reponse or was expecting it. He wrote back and "heartly" invited me to meet with him for breakfast to discuss this.

Why is the VP doing this? Is he afraid Im going to bring a lawsuit against the company? Should I tell him everything that happened or should I keep shut. I'm 22 and just graduated college and this was my first job right after.
Couple facts: Boss lets me go and when I ask why he told me in the email that it was due to budget constraint. Boss tell employees that too when they question him what happened to me. A few days later he goes to other employees and ask if they have friends to do the job I was doing. Thats just a part of it....
