As I work for the union, I get these kind of cases from time to time. All I can say is that the decisions taken in these kind of cases can really vary a great deal from judge to judge. Sometimes you find really minor cases getting hefty fines or even jail sentences and other times Large scale frauds get away with it. The only way to be certain is to await the verdict.

It may be in the paper but otherwise there is no way of knowing unless you sit in Court. To be honest the most likely outcome, if he lives in the UK, is a Community Order with either Supervision or Unpaid Work or both.

telephone the court office and say that you are from his solicitors and just wanted confirmation of the outcome - because the person who represented him in court was not able to return to the office today.

so long as you know the name of his solicitors and can put on a confident sounding voice, you will be in business!

Don't understand why you're worrying about a scrounging parasite and thief in any case. If you weren't involved in the crime then forget him and move on. I do hope the judge is a hanging one, however!!

Yes, when he doesn't return.

Seriously though, if it is a fine, he will tell you himself when he gets back. If he is sent down you may be able to find out from the courthouse, or his solicitor. I would suggest you accompany him to the courthouse if you can then you will know soonest.
