Like, why is it that many people that cops (this has been my experience when watching the show COPS) are about to either ravenously beat or arrest are smoking cigarettes at the time of arrest? Do cigarettes give you special powers to run faster...or ? (I am 'cornfused' about this matter).
Or, do cigarettes give you special dispensation from pain stimuli- such as tortuous beatings with, say, a Billy Stick?
No offense to all you smokers out there! I'm just getting off free-base, myself. : )

Crime is something that attracts some people because it is a 'risk-taking behavior.' They get a rush from the thrill. Now, if you follow that concept back in time, you come to middle school, where most people start smoking cigarrettes. Oooooh, smoking's -baaaad-. I'm bad, too. Check this out. *puff cough hack* Mmmmmm. It's something that attracts people with a certain mind-set. I am not saying that all risk-takers are smokers, but it certainly increases their chance of being so. I'm a risk-taker myself, and don't smoke tobacco.

In the USA not smoking is correlated with better education, and higher income. Exactly the things that are also correlated with having a good enough lawyer to keep your humiliation and pain, should you ever be arrested off the TV for other people's amusement.
Smoking also helps to pass the time in jail.

Well in the first place nicotine is the most addictive drug there is ! second people in uniform smoke also ! , kids smoke ! , there are smokers in all walks of life , if you truly want to know , research where it came from , who made money on it , why was it allowed in this country , what was the reason of introduction into society , think about this ! most of the founders and leaders of this country smoked ! it is a poison (nicotine) one drop will kill , now according to law if someone is giving poison to another to kill them slowly they are arrested for attempted murder or murder if they die , it must be that since they know they are being killed it is allright , there motto is to protect and serve who has the hardest job , they do think about that !

because smoking cigarettes gives you the strenght of 10 men and makes you look cool on tv.Plus when the cop grabs you you can put that cigarette out in his eye and get a good head start.

To the criminal: Smoking makes you look cool. Perhaps it even calms your nerves while the police search your house or car. Especially when you have several pounds of weed and a stash of illegal weapons in your trunk.
To normal human beings: You look as stupid as your deadly habit! This guy or gal is obviously hiding something!

a lot of "criminals" are repeat offenders, so they have been in jail or prison, where cigarrettes are used as currency
